Warrior Mist™ is the most effective formula for pain relief offered by HPDI. Warrior Mist is an all-natural, fast-acting, topical pain reliever that is effective for many types of pain. I should know. I have used it nearly every day—for years!
Types of pain Warrior Mist is known to stop, reduce, or soothe include: back pain (including sciatica), knee pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches (including migraines), neck pain and tension, stiff and painful (or pulled) muscles, plantar fascitis, arthritis, sports injuries, old injuries, sprains and strains, bruises (including deep bruises), shin splints, tennis elbow, nerve pain, and post surgery pain.
Practicing aikido for years, I have a frequent need for the rapid effects of Warrior Mist. Having used it for regularly for a long time, I appreciate how quickly it relieves pain like joint pain or sprains. It also works spectacularly for bruises, cuts, abrasions, burns, bug bites, and many other applications.
TESTIMONIAL: "This really works. I had tried several other products, including prescription medications, and little success. There was a noticeable difference after my first use of the product." – Amazon customer
Warrior Mist comes in a convenient one-ounce spray bottle. I shake the bottle and then add a few pumps—or as many as I need—to my non-pumping hand and rub onto the affected area. You can also spray it directly onto skin before rubbing it in with a clean hand. If you need more, you can always unscrew the cap and pour directly into your hand or onto skin, but I usually only reserve this action for times when I’m at the end of the bottle and I want to use all the Warrior Mist remaining in the bottle.
The small bottle travels well, and I usually take it with me whenever I travel. I also keep a bottle ready in a small hiking kit that I carry with me on the trail. While I may not always need it, nevertheless it is there. I cannot count how often I used it when I’ve least expected to need it. Sprained ankles or swollen fingers heal a lot faster than you might expect, compared to not having Warrior Mist around. It even works well on things like mosquito bites—and helps repel them.
Warrior Mist can be combined effectively with other natural topical products, especially Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil (see video). I often mix a little Warrior Mist with Magnesium Oil in my palm. This mix gives me all the benefits of Warrior Mist with the added boost of extra magnesium chloride that speeds healing.
WARRIOR MIST BENEFITS
Warrior Mist offers rapid pain relief and many other benefits:
• RAPID, EFFECTIVE PAIN RELIEF – Formulated as a fast-acting pain reliever using only natural ingredients
• LONG LASTING – pain relief last eight hours (or more) per use. This is a natural formula, so you will eventually need to re-apply it. But fewer applications means more time living life pain free.

WHY IS WARRIOR MIST EFFECTIVE?
Warrior Mist™ is a revolutionary skin, muscle, and joint support formula that uses DMSO, olive oil, coconut oil, and water as base (or carrier) ingredients that transdermally transport the other ingredients directly to the site of the problem where they work together harmoniously and effectively.
Functional ingredients carried to the site of pain include: peppermint oil (the primary source of menthol in the product), magnesium chloride, MSM, lemon oil, and lavender oil. Each of the functional ingredients (and their amounts) were carefully selected for their ability to stop pain, to help the body overcome the causes of pain, to promote healing at the local level, or to work synergistically with the other ingredients. Warrior Mist is 100% all-natural and totally safe!
As a topical analgesic, Warrior Mist conforms to the proposed rules set forth in FDA Monograph 348. The label used on the current Warrior Mist (1 oz spray bottle) meets the requirements set forth in this monograph. Even though there are a number of ingredients in Warrior Mist that can potentially provide temporary pain relief, the FDA monograph only recognizes the ingredient menthol, the major ingredient in peppermint oil, as an allowable active ingredient. According to the monograph, we can only mention menthol as the active ingredient and all other ingredients must be labelled as inactive ingredients.
The truth is that all the ingredients (functional and base/carrier ingredients) add up to a synergistic formula that rapidly relieves pain in a single, easy-to-apply topical product. What more could you ask for?
Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), a by-product of the wood industry, has been in use as a commercial solvent since 1953. Furthermore, in 125 countries throughout the world doctors prescribe it for a variety of issues, including inflammation. DMSO has been used widely as a carrier in topical analgesic formulas. Laboratory studies have shown that DMSO is able to block peripheral nerve C fibers.
Burns, cuts, and sprains have been treated with DMSO. Relief is reported to be almost immediate, lasting up to 6 hours. DMSO reduces inflammation by several mechanisms. It is an antioxidant, a scavenger of the free radicals that gather at the site of injury. Studies have shown DMSO to be one of the safest ingredients known with a toxicity similar to that of water.
DMSO has long been used to promote healing both in animals and humans. Those who have used it for minor cuts and burns report that recovery is speedy. Several studies have documented DMSO use with soft tissue damage, local tissue death, skin ulcers, and burns. Applied topically and repeatedly, DMSO flattens the raised, nodular, lobed liner mass of scar tissue in keloids and acne.
MSM is a naturally occurring nutrient found in normal human diets. In the body DMSO and MSM, which form each other, are indistinguishable in their biochemical effects. They reach a equilibrium distribution between them that is dependent on the local body chemistry, and is independent of which one you start with. The metabolic enhancement mechanism of MSM and DMSO is that of an exceptionally effective oxygen transport system. This system is made particularly effective by the feature that both DMSO and MSM are highly soluble in both oil and water.
MSM makes cell walls permeable, allowing water and nutrients to freely flow into cells and allowing wastes and toxins to properly flow out. The body uses MSM along with Vitamin C to create new healthy cells, and MSM provides the flexible bond between the cells. Without proper levels of MSM, our bodies are unable to build healthy cells, and this leads to problems such as lost flexibility, scar tissue, wrinkles, varicose veins, hardened arteries, damaged lung tissues, dry cracking skin, digestive disorders, joint problems, and inability to defend against allergic reactions to food, animals and plants.
The applications of MSM include pain control (analgesic), inflammation control, dilation of blood vessels, increased blood flow, reduced muscle spasm, altering the crosslinking process in collagen (e.g., reducing scar tissue,) anti-parasitic effects (particularly against Giardia), and immune normalizing effects. MSM has a unique ability to pass through cellular membranes (including skin).
The primary constituent of peppermint oil is menthol, which causes a physical reaction when inhaled or applied to the skin. Menthol produces an immediate and pronounced sensation of coolness that effects the body quite noticeably, and creates a “warming effect” as blood flows into the area of application.
Peppermint oil can be used externally for providing relief from pain. Peppermint oil increases your immunity. It also improves blood circulation. Additional of the uses of peppermint oil include:acne, asthma, colds, cramps, dermatitis, exhaustion, influenza, headache, insect bites, mental fatigue, migraine, nausea, nerve pain, neuralgia, poor circulation, and respiratory disorders.
Lavender oil helps in treating migraines, headaches, anxiety, depression, nervous tension and emotional stress. The refreshing aroma removes nervous exhaustion and restlessness and increases mental activity. Because it induces sleep, it is often recommended for insomnia. Lavender oil is also an excellent remedy for various types of pains including those caused by sore muscles, tense muscles, muscular aches, rheumatism, sprains, backache, and lumbago. A regular massage with lavender oil can provide relief from pain in the joints.
Lavender oil is also good for improving blood circulation in the body. The health benefits of lavender oil for the skin can be attributed to its antiseptic and antifungal properties. It is used to treat various skin conditions, including acne, wrinkles, psoriasis, and other inflammatory conditions. It heals wounds, cuts, burns, and sunburns rapidly because it aids in the formation of scar tissues. It is also effective against insect bites. The oil also repels mosquitoes and moths.
Lemon oil is powerfully astringent and antiseptic. Lemon oil is detoxifying and is therefore good for blemishes associated with oily skin. Lemon oil is a powerful antioxidant and is a tonic for supporting the nervous and sympathetic nervous system. It’s been long known that lemon oil is anti-infective, antibacterial (especially with spores), and antiviral. It can function as a disinfectant and exerts vitamin P-like action for improving microcirculation, promotes white blood cell formation, and improves immune function. It has also been widely used in skin care to cleanse skin and reduce wrinkles.
Magnesium chloride applied to the skin is an effective means for increasing magnesium levels in the body, and is particularly useful for relieving sore muscles and joints, and reducing pain related to functional magnesium deficiency. It is also proven for use in helping to calm “nerves” and reduce systemic bodily stress. Because the magnesium targets muscle tissues, it is thereby especially useful for replenishing depleted soft tissues and helping restore proper function.
Magnesium is necessary for the production of energy in the body. When the body receives adequate amounts of magnesium, it can produce the levels of energy required to sustain the body and enable it to thrive. Magnesium chloride is proven for use in a variety of general applications, including bruises, cramps, muscle tension, and migraine headaches.
Used as a base and mixed with other essential oils, olive oil makes a wonderful oil for skin health. In fact, it has been touted as one of the oldest healing and beauty techniques. A biblical reference from about 493 BCE documents the daily massage with olive oil and other oils as a part of the beauty regimen.
Coconut oil is a superb skin lotion because it both nourishes skin and is naturally anti-bacterial, antiviral, and antifungal due to its high content of medium chain triglycerides
DIRECTIONS: Shake bottle before applying. Wash hands before and after use. Apply in a thin layer to a clean, dry, and lotion-free area needing support. Shave thick hair that may prevent absorption by the skin. Gently massage the area of application to assist absorption. Reapply as needed 3–4 times daily. Contains DMSO, a known solvent. Use on people or pets at your own discretion.
USES: Warrior Mist™ is an all-natural skin, muscle, and joint support formula.
WARNINGS: For external use only. May cause temporary (up to 45 minutes) skin irritation, heating, or flushing upon use. Discontinue use if temporary skin conditions persist. Do not use on wounds or severely damaged skin. Do not bandage tightly. Avoid contact with eyes. Flush eyes with cool water if exposed. Do not use if allergic to any ingredients. Stop use and visit a health care professional if reason for use continues for more than one week. If swallowed get medical help or call a Poison Control Center. Consult a health care professional before use if pregnant.
Warrior Mist topical formula is highly effective for pain relief. A major advantage is that it is a natural formula (available without a prescription) and can safely be re-applied whenever necessary. Another benefit is that it lacks the side effects common to prescription pain medications.
Try Warrior Mist for yourself. If you’re like me, you will want to keep a bottle or two ready for the aches and pains of daily life. Use it as often as you need it. Be a warrior!
Almost daily articles, reports, or studies appear claiming nutritional supplements are not effective. The claims vary, but the verdict is always there is little or no scientific evidence proving supplements (or the nutrients in supplements) work. Others assert that people who take supplements have the world’s most expensive urine. This is nonsense! The scientific evidence is clear, available, and it has been for a long time.
Among the many problems with these reports is bashing supplements based on studies using low dose or non-therapeutic levels of nutrients. There is frequently failure to consider the importance of synergy among nutrients. Often there is data manipulation via statistical methods (often in meta-analyses).
Well beyond the question of whether supplements support health are the factors in modern life that create a greater needs for supplementing with important vitamins, minerals, cofactors, and other nutrients.
This month we present “Seven Arguments for Nutritional Supplements.” As the title implies, there are at least seven solid arguments for nutritional supplementation. There are actually a lot more.
To preview these arguments in favor of taking supplements, they are: 1) reduced food quality, 2) nutrient density varies by location, 3) modern lifestyles and stress, 4) environmental pollution, 5) too low RDAs, and 6) promotion of health and delaying of aging, and 7) the human right to correct information.
Essential Fatty Acids (EFA) are one type of essential nutrient required for health.
We at HPDI re-publish articles from the Orthomolecular News Service (OMNS) because the authors provide much needed truth. Seven Arguments for Taking Nutritional Supplements
by Dag Viljen Poleszynski, PhD
(OMNS Sept 12 2018)
One of the most vitamin-restrictive countries in the world is Norway. There, authorities limit potencies to only slightly higher than RDA (Recommended Dietary Allowance) levels for dietary supplements sold outside of pharmacies. The traditional reasoning is that most people receive the nutrients they need from a “balanced diet.”
The authorities are also obsessively concerned that some vitamins and minerals are harmful in high doses. And, since an intake of water-soluble vitamins in excess of needs is excreted in the urine, Norwegian “experts” advise that taking supplements is a waste of money.
Accordingly, the argument goes, the public should be protected not only from possible harm, but also from wasting money on unnecessary nutrients. The official policies on nutritional supplements vary within OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) countries. Some are more liberal, while others are even more restrictive.
The official view on the connection between nutrient intake and possible toxicity is illustrated by the Norwegian Food Authority in a graph.
Perceived risk from intake of nutrients. (Source: Expert Group on Vitamins and Minerals. Safe upper limits for Vitamins and Minerals. May 2003: Food Standards Agency, UK.)
The graph illustrates the official view on nutrients, assuming that nutrients function in the same way as pharmaceuticals, which they do not. Supplements of most vitamins, but also minerals and other nutrients, do not have very serious side effects even when taken at very high levels – in contrast with most drugs. [3,4] The fact that most of the chemotherapeutic drugs used against cancer have none or even just marginal effects against most cancers , while at the same time cause a lot of serious side effects, is rarely up for discussion.
The idea that nutritional supplements are not safe has a legal underpinning in Norwegian Food Law, which in section 16 prohibits sale of any food which is not safe: “Any food shall be considered not to be safe if it is seen as detrimental to health or not fit for consumption.”
However, the Norwegian authorities do admit that vitamin D supplements are needed during part of the year. Only part of the year? One third of Norway is within the Arctic Circle. Norway has far too little sunshine (especially during winter months) to get adequate levels of vitamin D from UVB radiation on the skin.
The authorities also recommend that pregnant women take folic acid to prevent birth defects, and omega-3-fatty acids may be advisable for those who do not eat fish regularly. Norwegians have a long tradition of giving children cod liver oil, which in a daily tablespoon provides enough vitamin A and D and essential fatty acids to cover basic needs.
Essential and conditionally essential nutrients
There are thousands of dietary supplements on the market, including 40+ essential nutrients alone and in various combinations, i.e. vitamins, minerals, trace elements and fatty acids. However, a number of other nutrients are “conditionally essential”, meaning that the body normally can make these molecules, but some people do not make optimal amounts. Examples are L-carnitine, alpha-lipoic acid, the methyl donor betaine, chondroitin sulfate, coenzyme Q10, choline, amino acids such as tyrosine or arginine, and “essential” sugars normally formed in the body.
Healthy young people normally make sufficient amounts of conditionally essential molecules in the body, although the levels are not always optimal. With inadequate levels of minerals or vitamins, key enzymes in biochemical pathways may not function optimally.
Due to genetic mutations, some enzymes may have increased needs for certain cofactors (vitamins), which can prevent them from functioning optimally. Some enzymes only function normally when supplied with cofactors in greater amounts than normally required.
If supplements of essential nutrients prove insufficient for optimal enzyme function, “conditionally essential” nutrients may be added as part of a comprehensive, therapeutic program.
Parents are advised to become familiar with the literature on essential nutrients, for instance by consulting the Orthomolecular News Service. Children should be given supplements in appropriate doses and in a suitable form. Pills should not be given before children can control the swallowing reflex. Multivitamin powder can be given dissolved in water or juice. Parents should not dose vitamin C so high that a child comes to school or kindergarten with loose bowels or diarrhea.
In high doses, niacin may cause unpleasant side effects such as flushing and itching lasting up to several hours. Although this is not dangerous, it may cause a child to feel unwell and anxious. Starting niacin supplementation with a low dose and gradually increasing it will allow the body to adapt and avoid the niacin flush.
A multivitamin supplement containing moderate amounts of niacin is often adequate until a child is 8-10 years old. For younger children, the dosage should start with only a few tens of milligrams, and not increased to more than 50-100 mg/day. Adults may gradually get used to taking 1,000-1,500 mg/d divided into 3 doses per day.
When it comes to omega-3 fatty acids (omega = ω) such as EPA and DHA, children may be given cod liver oil and served fish and/or other seafood 2-3 times a week. It is important to check the dose of vitamin A supplied, as it can be toxic in high doses, especially for children. One problem with cod liver oil today is that vitamin D has been removed during processing, thus changing the natural ratio of the two vitamins so that we ingest relatively too much of vitamin A.
Higher dosages may be given after having consulted a therapist who has measured the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids in relevant cell membranes (red blood cells). In most industrialized countries, many people get too much of the omega-6 fatty acids, and would therefore benefit from eating more seafood or taking supplements with omega-3 fatty acids derived from organisms low in the food chain (algae, krill).
Flax seeds contain a high level of the essential omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid, and freshly ground flaxseed meal or flax oil can be mixed with breakfast cereals or smoothies. Note that it may be advisable to limit eating farmed fish to once per week, since their fodder contains less omega-3 fatty acids than the food eaten by wild fish, and possibly also contains more contaminants. Some researchers even warn against letting children eat too much fish because of the content of environmental toxins. [13,14]
Reasons for high-dose supplements of micronutrients
I have identified a number of arguments in favor of supplementing the modern diet with essential nutrients, here summarized with seven headlines. Most people should consider taking a multivitamin supplement containing vitamins and minerals even if they eat a nutritionally balanced diet.
Additional nutrients may contribute to better health and, in some cases, can be of vital importance in our modern world. The arguments are presented in random order, i.e. the order does not reflect priority.
1. The agricultural revolution has reduced food quality
The transition from an existence as hunter and gatherers to urban agriculture around 10,000 years ago began an epoch when foods were mass-produced but had lower nutritional density, compared with the previous food eaten by our ancestors. The nutritional density in many foods has fallen significantly since human societies transformed from hunter-gatherers into resident farmers. This is especially true in the last 60-70 years after agriculture was changed from small, versatile ecologically driven family farms to large, chemical-based, industrial agriculture.
The reduction of nutritional content in modern crops, compared with older varieties, is well documented. It is a consequence of soil erosion, loss of essential minerals from continual heavy use, combined with breeding of new varieties, which has increased the size and growth rate of plants by increasing the content of sugar and water and decreasing their mineral content compared to ancient species. At the same time, the relative content of other macronutrients (fat, protein/amino acids) and antioxidants may have been reduced.
Reduced nutritional density in many foods, combined with the use of refined “foods” like sugar, white flour and refined oils, places a greater priority on eating the most nutritious foods.
Farm produce grown organically generally has higher levels of essential nutrients such as trace minerals because the soil contains higher levels of trace minerals and the produce grows slower and thus has more time to absorb nutrients from the soil. Examples of nutrient dense foods are sardines, wild salmon, shellfish, eggs, liver, kale, collards and spinach, sea plants (seaweed), garlic, blueberries, and dark chocolate.
2. Nutritional content of food varies with geographical location
Nutritional density varies considerably geographically between different regions, even with the same agricultural methods. This was documented in the United States in 1948 by a researcher at Rutgers University in the so-called Firman Bear report. At that time agriculture was little mechanized, and artificial fertilizers and pesticides were hardly used.
The analysis found large differences in the content of minerals in the same food. The largest variations were found for potassium, sodium, boron and iron in spinach, while the greatest differences in calcium, magnesium and copper content were found in tomatoes.
The soil in areas with relatively low rainfall may in some cases contain an extremely high concentration of minerals, which is reflected in the plants growing there. This was well documented 70 years ago in the book Tomorrow’s Food. The dentist George W. Heard found that the soil in Hereford, Texas, was exceptionally rich in minerals.
Hereford became known as the “town without a toothache” after a newspaper article from January 29, 1942, reported that Hereford had the lowest incidence of tooth decay of any city in the United States. Dr. Heard found that people in Hereford had exceptionally few dental cavities and also that the soil locally was especially rich in minerals. He emphasized that the population in the county ate unprocessed food and was drinking raw milk.
Recent research shows that differences in the content of the selenium in the soil can cause major differences in the concentration of selenium in meat. For instance, since the soil in Finland is poor in selenium, the authorities decided in the early 1980s to add selenate to commercial fertilizers. A survey of selenium status among 108 healthy young people showed an increase in the blood selenium level of about 50 percent after four years.
A similar problem with the level of minerals in the soil exists for the content of magnesium. Often when the soil gets depleted of magnesium from heavy use, this essential mineral is not included in soil amendment with fertilizers. Produce grown in soil with an adequate level of magnesium will contain more magnesium than produce grown in soil deficient in magnesium.
Perhaps as many as 70-80% of the US population is magnesium-deficient, which causes many health problems. Magnesium supplements (chloride, malate or citrate) can provide an adequate level when vegetables grown in soil with adequate magnesium are not available.
3. Stress and the modern lifestyle increase the need for nutrients
Mental stress increases the excretion and hence the need for many nutrients. Among the most important are magnesium and vitamin C, both of which are used by the body in larger quantities during periods of physical and mental stress. [24,25] Compared with our past as hunters and gatherers, today´s stress is often of a more permanent nature. Instead of experiencing occasional situations where we had to fight or flee, many of us live with recurring stress day in and out.
Vitamin C protects the brain and nervous system from damage caused by stress because the synthesis and maintenance of chemical neurotransmitters such as adrenaline and noradrenaline requires adequate levels of vitamin C.
Vitamin C is also needed to repair collagen which is essential for skin, blood vessels, bones and joints, and muscles. When these are damaged by physical stress, extra vitamin C is necessary.
A controlled trial of 91 adults who experienced increased anxiety and stress 2-3 months after an earthquake in New Zealand in 2011 was divided into three groups, two were given a broad spectrum supplement of micronutrients in low or higher doses. The supplements were found to alleviate the experience of stress, with the biggest dose having the biggest effect.
Our sedate, modern lifestyle reduces the need for energy from food, which implies a lower food intake or obesity. Loren Cordain, PhD, and coworkers have estimated that hunter-gatherers had significantly higher energy needs than the typical modern office worker.
A lower energy intake generally reduces the absolute intake of all nutrients, while the need for some nutrients is not always reduced proportionally with energy intake. Overall this suggests that more exercise along with a more nutritious diet, including supplements of essential nutrients and less carbohydrates, will help to prevent obesity and maintain health.
Processing of food reduces its nutritional content, and the finished products are often based on fractions of the original foods. One example is milling grain to make white flour, which has a lower nutritional density than whole grain flour.
The reduction in nutritional value has accelerated since whole foods are now divided into pieces, for example, boneless chicken breast. When meat is injected with saline to increase the volume, the relative level of essential nutrients is reduced. In the United States, many supermarkets in low-income rural and inner city areas have a limited selection of nutrient-dense foods, compared with high-income areas.
4. Environmental pollutants increase the need for nutrients
The need for efficient detoxification and excretion is greatly increased by environmental pollution from the chemical industry, herbicides and pesticides used by industrial agriculture, antibiotic treatment of animals, transport, and plastic packaging.
In our polluted world, the increased toxic load may be compensated for by an increase in nutrients to promote detoxification. One can respond by taking large doses of supplements of essential nutrients, for example, antioxidants vitamin C and E, and an adequate dose of selenium, which help the body detoxify harmful chemicals. Also helpful is regularly taking sauna baths, fasting periodically, and eating an excellent diet that includes generous portions of dark green leafy vegetables and colorful vegetables and fruits.
A recent study predicts that global warming may reduce the nutrient density in many foods worldwide. Atmospheric CO2 is estimated to surpass 550 ppm in the next 30-80 years, leading to larger crops with lower content of protein, iron and zinc per energy unit.
Assuming that diets remain constant, while excluding other climate impacts on food production, the researchers estimated that elevated CO2 could cause an additional 175 million people to be zinc deficient and an additional 122 million people to be protein deficient in 2050. Anemia would increase significantly if crops lose even a small amount of iron. The highest risk regions – South and Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Middle East – are especially vulnerable, since they do not have the means and access to compensate using nutritional supplements.
5. The RDA for essential nutrients is too low
The recommended nutrient reference intake (NRI) has been defined by UK authorities and the EU Food Safety Agency as the dose that is adequate for 95 percent of the population. These authorities have given recommendations for a total of 41 chemical substances, including 13 vitamins, 17 minerals/trace elements, 9 amino acids and two fatty acids. The problem with such guidelines is that when using the same 0.95 fraction for just 16 of the essential nutrients, the fraction of the overall population that has their needs met with the RDA is less than half (0.9516 = 0.44).
Given the above assumption, the proportion of the population having all nutrient needs met falls below 25 percent for 30 nutrients (0.9530 = 0.21). These 25 percent will not necessarily get optimal amounts, just enough so that they probably will have no deficiencies in accordance with established standards. Each individual is different and has different biochemical needs, so we all need different doses of essential nutrients. Many vitamins and minerals can give additional benefit when taken at higher doses.
The need for several essential nutrients increases with age and sickness. This applies, for example, to vitamin C, vitamin D, magnesium, and iron. In 2017 the Norwegian Food Safety Authority proposed to revise the official maximum levels for vitamins and minerals in dietary supplements.
Their proposal introduced four different age categories with separate maximum intakes. Initially, the agencies proposed to revise the daily doses allowed in dietary supplements for folic acid, magnesium, calcium, vitamin C and D. At the same time, maximum rates were temporarily suspended for vitamins A, E, K, thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pantothenate (B5), pyridoxine (B6), cobalamine (B12), biotin, and for phosphorus, iron, copper, iodine, zinc, manganese, selenium, chromium, molybdenum, sodium, potassium, fluoride, chloride, boron and silicon.
The upper limits for some nutrients may be changed in the future. Unfortunately, Norwegian nutrition “experts” will likely continue to limit allowable doses below those freely available in the US and even Sweden.
6. An optimal nutrient intake promotes health and delays aging
A spokesperson for optimal nutritional intake is the well-known biochemist Bruce Ames, who proposed the “triage theory of nutrients,” in which enzymes responsible for cell maintenance functions evolved to have lower affinity for the essential vitamin and mineral cofactors than the enzymes responsible for short-term survival, to preserve life during times of famine.
Thus, higher levels of vitamins and minerals may delay mitochondrial aging, speed up the repair of large molecules such as DNA and collagen, and generally improve other cellular functions. This is an important rationale for taking higher doses of vitamins and minerals than recommended reference intakes.
Dietary supplements can slow the aging process, in part by reducing the harmful effects of free radicals, known to be involved in many diseases such as cardiovascular disease and cancer.
Naturally occurring hormones and/or supplements of cofactors needed for optimal hormone production in the body can have a significant life-prolonging effect if the body produces less than optimal amounts. This is especially relevant for those with a genetic predisposition for disease.
An optimum intake of all nutrients is difficult to achieve even for those who eat almost exclusively an excellent diet of nutrient dense foods, such as meat and innards, fish, shellfish, fowl, eggs, nuts, mushrooms, and vegetables, berries and nutritious fruits. Some nutrients such as folic acid or carotenoids in vegetables are absorbed better from processed than unprocessed foods.
Although vegetables are often considered to be a good source of vitamins, for example vitamin A from carrots, vitamin A is only found in animal products such as liver, egg yolk, fish cod and cod liver oil. Although eating raw vegetables is helpful for several reasons (vitamin C, fiber, microbiota), carotenoids (alpha/beta-carotene, lutein, lycopene) in vegetables are less well absorbed from raw than cooked food and better absorbed in the presence of added fat. [38,39].
Nutrients in vegetables are better absorbed when finely chewed, graded, or mashed , and cooking and grinding meat reduces the energy required to digest it and increases nutrient absorption .
Orthomolecular pioneer Abram Hoffer and Orthomolecular News Service Editor Andrew W. Saul suggested this list of daily intakes of vitamins and minerals. The Norwegian 2017 recommendations for adult men and women are given in comparison. Individual needs may vary substantially from person to person and also with health status.
The figures for optimal intake are obtained from the Independent Vitamin Safety Review Panel of physicians, researchers and academics, who concluded:
“People are deceived in believing that they can get all the nutrients they need from a ‘balanced diet’ consisting of processed foods. To achieve an adequate intake of vitamins and minerals, a diet of unprocessed whole foods, along with intelligent use of dietary supplements is more than just a good idea: it is vital.” [44: 55]
A well-known example is vitamin C, which can effectively fight viral infections, prevent or reverse disease caused by bacteria, and help the body detoxify organic and inorganic toxins. Vitamin C also reduces the risk for cancer, strengthens connective tissues (collagen), and counteracts stress by increasing the adrenal´s production of cortisol. The dose required is set according to the body’s need.
Nobel Price Laureate Linus Pauling suggested that an optimal daily intake of vitamin C could vary from at least 250 mg up to 20 grams per day. Because unabsorbed vitamin C attracts water into the gut, some people may experience loose stools, gas and/or diarrhea by ingesting only 1-2 grams at a time, while others with a higher level of stress may tolerate 5-6 grams or more. The dose that causes loose stools is called the “bowel tolerance” for vitamin C. To avoid the laxative effect of high doses, it is best to take vitamin C throughout the day in smaller divided doses.
When the body is stressed by disease, the gut will naturally absorb more vitamin C because the body needs more. To find the optimal dose, the intake should be increased until bowel tolerance is reached. Some people can tolerate more than 100,000 mg/d of vitamin C in divided doses during serious illness without having loose stool.
Liposomal vitamin C bypasses the normal bowel tolerance because it is absorbed directly through cell membranes, so higher doses can be tolerated without diarrhea.
7. A human right to receive correct information
Access to correct information about food and essential nutrients, including knowledge about the importance of food for health is a fundamental human right. Such information should not only provide a summary of the nutrient content of food, but in our opinion should also explain how dietary supplements can counteract deficiencies and prevent and reverse disease caused by nutrient deficiencies.
We should be free to purchase quality-controlled supplements of essential nutrients and to use them to counteract aging and damage from stress as part of a long-term health plan. The right to reject recommendations by doctors for symptomatic treatment with synthetic, some times life-threatening, drugs to alleviate symptoms should be included. [48,49]
I have not found any formulation of such rights from the Norwegian authorities. The role of parents and their right to receive correct health information is addressed in a book by lawyer Anne Kjersti C. Befring, a fellow at the University of Oslo since 2014.
The use of dietary supplements is widespread. High doses of vitamins are thought to be helpful because they help the body recover from damage and maintain itself long-term. Many vitamins are not harmful in doses even 10 to 100-fold higher than officially recommended.
Some governments warn about possible negative side effects, even including increased mortality from “excessive” intake of certain supplements. However, supplements of essential nutrients have been available for more than 80 years. They are known to be safe, and the observed side effects are generally mild with few exceptions.
It is possible to ingest too much of certain vitamins and minerals (vitamin A, calcium, iron, copper, selenium) which may exacerbate an existing imbalance or lack of another mineral (magnesium, zinc). It is also important to balance intake of fatty acids in the omega-6 and omega-3 series, as most people get too much omega-6 and not enough omega-3.
Small children can be overdosed with adult doses of for example vitamin A or iron, and pills may be dangerous for babies or young children because they can get stuck in the throat. Therefore, I recommend consulting a doctor or nutritionist educated in orthomolecular medicine. Most people are likely to benefit from taking a broad-spectrum multivitamin/mineral supplement as a basic insurance against deficiencies.
Compared to pharmaceutical drugs, supplements of most essential nutrients are quite harmless. However, some supplements may have poor quality, or contain toxic metals such as lead or cadmium. Therefore, it is the duty of our authorities to ensure that potentially hazardous products or supplements of poor quality are not sold, and that consumers are offered fair prices in a free market.
An example where the Norwegian authorities do not follow up such basic duties is that pharmacies demand more than 1,600 Norwegian Kroner (about $190) per kg of vitamin C in powder form, which would cost less than $20 with free competition and no restrictions in permitted doses or outlets.
Those who want to use natural healing methods, such as the use of food and supplements of essential nutrients to prevent or reverse illness, should consult therapists who are qualified to give advice on how natural therapies can help.
I recommend that anyone interested in supplements read the references for this article as well as the archives of the Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine http://orthomolecular.org/library/jom/ and the Orthomolecular Medicine News Service http://orthomolecular.org/resources/omns/index.shtml . We can all stand to be more alkaline. The majority of people are acidic due to diet and lifestyle. One of the best formulas for creating alkalinity is pH Adjust. pH Adjust is a good-tasting, fluffy white powder that dissolves easily in water, juice, and yes, coffee.
Shortly after launching pH Adjust as a new product, we began receiving reports from customers that they used pH Adjust in their coffee.
Why put pH Adjust into coffee? Well, first it is a pleasant and convenient carrier for pH Adjust. Second, and most importantly, coffee is acid-forming in the body. By putting pH Adjust directly into coffee, you both can counteract acidity and simultaneously alkalinize the body.
My questions: Was coffee creating acid condition in my body? And would putting pH Adjust in my coffee make a a difference? Short answer: Yes.
I enjoy coffee. I don’t drink it all the time. But after hearing customer comments, I decided to try pH Adjust in my coffee. Within a day or two, I noticed my teeth were stronger! This was welcome news.
In fact, I had been dealing with a few “minor” dental issues, including teeth chipping, enamel wear, and occasional tooth pain. My diet is good and I eat plenty of vegetables and fruits. So how could my teeth be compromised?
I measured my pH using Hydrion pH paper. It was lower than I thought it would be. Simply put: I was more acidic, more of the time, than I knew. Does acidity weaken teeth? Yes, it does.
pH Adjust alkalinizes the body rapidly. It dissolves easily in water, coffee & most drinks.
“Bicarbonate reserves” decline as we age. This makes us more acidic because we don’t buffer acidity as easily as we did when younger. The body must then draw upon minerals in bones and teeth. Yet, even young people are overly acidic in modern society. Everyone who is acidic stands to benefit from increased pH levels. That means most of us.
The proof that acidity causes weaker teeth is the fact that pH Adjust immediately stopped my tooth chipping, enamel wear, and pain. Good thing I put pH Adjust into coffee shortly after HPDI introduced it. And thanks to the customers, employees, and friends of HPDI who told me about it.
ALKALINIZING COFFEE IS HEALTHIER
Coffee with pH Adjust is healthier than plain coffee because it helps alkalinize the body. Taking pH Adjust (without coffee) accomplishes the same thing. But for those who enjoy coffee, adding pH Adjust is an easy way to alkalinize what can otherwise be an acidifying drink. Who wants acidity? Not me.
I now use pH Adjust in coffee by directly adding a 1/2 to 1 teaspoon directly into coffee and stirring. I adjust the dose according to how much coffee I drink.
I also take pH Adjust separately from coffee—usually once or twice daily—about one teaspoon per dose. Taking 1–2 teaspoons total of pH Adjust daily seems to be the right amount. I no longer have issues with my teeth. My bones feel stronger, too.
If you drink coffee, then adding pH Adjust to make it “pH Adjust coffee” may be helpful to you. It reduces acidity and supports mineral balance. It especially provides good levels of potassium and magnesium, minerals that are required for good health—and that are deficient in most people.
If coffee is driving acidity in your body, then pH Adjust may be just the thing for you. Putting pH Adjust in your coffee directly means stopping acidity at the source. pH Adjust dissolves easily in coffee (and most other drinks) and does not add a bad taste. In fact, many people, including me, enjoy the gently sweet flavor it imparts.

KETOGENIC COFFEE WITH pH ADJUST
More recently, I discovered the benefits of using organic coconut or MCT oil in coffee with organic pasture butter or ghee. This is based on the concept of Bulletproof coffee popularized by Dave Asprey in his Bulletproof Diet, and it fits well into ketogenic diets. Ketogenic diets are low in carbohydrates, high in fats, and include plenty of high-quality protein.
I do not follow a ketogenic diet per se. Yet, I consume relatively high amounts of “good” fats (like coconut, olive, and avocado oils) and few simple carbohydrates. I had even added coconut oil, butter, and ghee into my coffee years ago. But I never blended it into an emulsified concoction, nor was pH Adjust available. So this is truly different!
MAKE KETO COFFEE
I make ketogenic or “keto” coffee using freshly ground organic coffee, organic coconut oil and/or organic MCT oil, and organic unsalted ghee (or pasture butter). It is important the ingredients be organic and pasture fed when possible.
I first brew the coffee, then add coconut oil or MCT oil, and butter or ghee. Then I use a hand blender (or regular blender) to mix completely.
Put freshly brewed coffee in a blender or large container (like a mason jar). Add coconut oil/MCT oil, ghee, and pH Adjust. Blend or use hand blender to mix well. It is important the coffee be hot (or at least warm) in order for the coconut/MCT oil and ghee to mix into it.
You can add the pH Adjust either before or after you mix or blend the coffee. I personally stir in the pH Adjust manually using a long spoon after I’ve already mixed the other ingredients. If you add the pH Adjust after mixing the other ingredients, then be sure to stir well.
Note on amounts: the amounts I list above are suggestions. I often use less coconut or MCT oil, or ghee. That is, some days I use just two teaspoons of coconut/MCT oil, or one rounded teaspoon of ghee. Try using different amounts of ingredients to see what works for you.
Grass-fed ghee is a key ingredient in keto coffee.
One reason for using less coconut/MCT oil or ghee is because this coffee can be “filling.” I am not hungry after I drink it. This is one benefit according to keto coffee experts. In fact, it is recommended that users drink it in the morning before eating. This gives the option of putting off breakfast.
If I have planned to eat breakfast, then I will often use less coconut or MCT oil. The lower level of satiety from the coffee means I eat breakfast without having already been filled by the keto coffee.
Make keto coffee any time of day. It is probably best on an empty stomach and definitely not too late into the afternoon—unless you want to be up late (if coffee affects you that way). You can make it early in the day, and then consume it over the course of the morning and afternoon.
Benefits of Coffee or Keto Coffee with pH Adjust
• Alkalinizes body — an alkaline state is good for overall health
• Provides minerals, especially potassium and magnesium
• May help strengthen teeth and bones
• Some users report improved digestion
• Some users report reduced GERD
• Some users report less Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS)
• Potassium helps balance out sodium — and is required for cellular health
• Magnesium is essential for 400 enzyme systems, production of ATP, cardiovascular health, and muscle relaxation
• Many other benefits!
There are many other benefits associated with an alkaline state, which is ideally a pH of 7.35–7.45. You can learn more about the benefits of alkalinization from earlier HPDI blog articles (see resources section below), doing web searches, or talking to your health professional.
If these benefits are not sufficient reason to try using pH Adjust in your coffee to make “pH Adjust alkalinizing coffee” then consider doing it for the taste!
Tip: To make this coffee more hydrating, try adding 8-16 drops of Patrick Flanagan’s Crystal Energy, which makes the water in this drink more bioavailable.
KETO COFFEE TASTES GOOD
Keto coffee tastes good. The oils and fats provide a rich, hearty taste. It is creamy, warm, and delicious. And as I mentioned, it is filling, so it satisfies hunger.
Adding pH Adjust to keto coffee won’t change the taste much. In fact, many people say adding pH Adjust makes it taste better. I agree. This may be due to the fact that the formula contains glycine in the form of potassium glycinate. Glycine tastes good and is naturally “sweet” without the harmful effects of sugar. In fact, to me pH Adjust imparts a slightly sweet flavor that is reminiscent of “caramel.”
pH Adjust may slightly change the texture of your coffee. It may make regular, non-keto coffee appear and taste “creamier.” Most people won’t mind that. As for keto coffee, it is already “creamy” due to the coconut/MCT oil and ghee. pH Adjust might just add a bit more texture to it.
Also, there may be a slight chalky, white residue at the bottom of your cup. This does not happen if you mix in the pH Adjust formula well, or if you re-stir (or swirl) the coffee cup or glass when it’s half full. Remember: if you see this residue, it is pH Adjust. As such, you may wish to drink it as is, or add little more liquid (coffee, water, etc.) and quaff it down.
Mix the MCT or coconut oil and ghee (or butter) using a blender or stick blender.
DRINK pH ADJUST FOR ALKALINITY
To me, the most important thing about coffee or keto coffee with pH Adjust is not how it tastes or how it reduces hunger, etc. It is how is increases pH levels. Alkalinity is important for health. No matter how you choose to take or drink it, pH Adjust will alkalinize. In spades.
Besides coffee, you can add pH Adjust to juices, teas, smoothies, shakes, water, and even lemonade. The fact is, taking pH Adjust is more important than the drink you choose to take it with. You decide the drink.
That being said, I really like keto coffee with pH Adjust. I add ice for a delightful, cooling concoction in summer. In winter, I drink it hot.
I think you will enjoy keto coffee with pH Adjust, too. And, if you already brew and drink your own version of keto coffee, then increased alkalinity—and better health—is as simple as adding a spoonful of pH Adjust. ~
We live in a digital world enjoying convenient and limitless access to people, information, and the Internet of Things. What could be the downside? EMF for one.
What is EMF? EMF stands for “Electromagnetic Fields.” Electromagnetic fields encompass an entire spectrum of waves from extremely low frequencies (ELF) and visible light to ultra-high frequencies, such as cosmic rays (ionizing radiation).
What I refer to as “EMF” is the non-ionizing radiation to which we are exposed from cell phones and cell-phone towers, Wi-Fi, cellular data, Bluetooth, smart meters, computers, solar panel inverters, AC-to-DC transformers, power lines, and signals from other digital devices.
Is EMF harmful? Yes, there is a large body of scientific evidence showing EMF can be extremely harmful. Plenty of evidence has existed for decades. Do a search on PubMed. The harms of EMF are not publicized to consumers, especially by companies profiting from the digital and wireless revolutions.
The problem: every year there are more cell phone towers, Wi-Fi networks, “Smart” meters, and solar panel inverters. Soon California will mandate all new homes must have solar power, which means more EMF. Beyond this, there are millions of 5G antennas coming to your region, as part of the most powerful wireless network ever built.
Most health care professionals don’t know much about EMF and the importance of reducing exposure. However, there are a growing number of physicians who understand the dangers of EMF. They can make suggestions for lowering EMF exposure and may also refer you to EMF mitigation experts.
There are four types of EMF building biologists generally test for in homes: 1) Radiofrequency fields (RF), 2) magnetic fields, 3) electric fields, and 4) electromagnetic interference (EMI) or “dirty electricity.” All four types can cause health issues, so it is important to measure and isolate them so you can take action to reduce each type of field, respectively.
I tested my house and office for all four types of EMF—and found all four of them at high levels. I have since mitigated them to safer levels. I continue to find ways to reduce EMF and my exposures to them.
Ways that various types of EMF cause damage to biological systems:
• DNA Damage – Radiofrequency (RF) radiation induces both single- and double-stranded DNA breaks in human and animal cells. When DNA breaks are not properly repaired, the long-term damage results in adverse health effects.
• Voltage Gated Calcium Channels (VGCC) – EMF opens VGCCs causing cells to be flooded with calcium. This excess calcium disrupts multiple pathways, leading to various negative effects, including increased oxidative stress, disrupted nerve cell communication, and heart-related problems.
• Blood Brain Barrier – EMF can open the blood-brain barrier causing toxins or other harmful substances to enter the brain, and for the brain to leak” substances it requires, such as nutrients or neurotransmitters.
• Melatonin Hormone Reduction – EMF suppresses the production of melatonin, which is the antioxidant hormone responsible for repairing the body during sleep. When the body does not properly repair itself at night, problems can arise from immune-related conditions to premature aging.
• Microbiome Disruption – Just as all cells—including those in our body, are electrical, the organisms in our microbiome are electrical, too. There is evidence to show that our microbiome is harmed by EMF.
These are some of the ways that EMF can harm health. When you add them together, you begin to get a picture showing that EMF can cause significant harm to biological systems. Many scientists have suggested how EMF can contribute to almost any health condition from autism to Alzheimer’s disease.
Certain people, myself included, can immediately feel the effects of EMF exposure. Immediate or short-term effects can vary from fatigue, low-energy, and mental fogginess to head and body pains, and ringing in the ears (tinnitus). Terms used to describe the state of being sensitive to EMF are “Electromagnetic Sensitivity” and “Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity” (EHS).
Persons who suffer from EHS may range from 2% to 7% of the population or higher. Yet, whether or not you are “EHS” or feel effects from EMF exposure, science shows your body remains subject to adverse effects, including oxidative damage. That is, just because you do not feel it, does not mean it is not harmful.
Note: there is evidence that certain frequencies of EMF can support health. These often fall into the category of PEMF or “pulsed electromagnetic fields.” Another example: the Schumann resonances (7.82 Hz – 33.8 Hz), which are natural electromagnetic resonances created by lightning discharges from the ionosphere and the surface of the earth. The Schumann resonances are natural earth frequencies to which humans and all life has been exposed for millions of years.
MY EMF STORY
In my case, I never really noticed any problems until I had a solar panel power system installed on my roof-—on two different homes, one in 2014 and the other in 2017. In both cases, I was exposed for relatively long periods at short distances to smart meters and solar inverters, as well as solar-related Wi-Fi equipment.
Shortly after the first installation, I noticed fatigue, inability to concentrate, and pressure in my head. I did not initially make the connection between how I was feeling and the solar installation, which included a DC to AC inverter and two smart meters. I tried to keep my analog electric meter, but the solar company told me only digital smart meters are compatible with the solar power system.
My symptoms improved when I moved my desk away from the wall on whose opposite side the solar equipment was located. Shortly thereafter, we moved to a different home in our metropolitan area. A few years later, we had solar panels installed on our new house. I hoped to avoid symptoms similar to what I had experience previously. No such luck.
After the second solar installation in 2017, I again experienced fatigue, inability to concentrate, as well as pain in my head. I moved my desk and unplugged the solar company’s dedicated Wi-Fi unit that measures solar power generation. I felt better. But over a period of months I developed increasing low-tone tinnitus (ringing in the ears). At first it sounded like a small plane or a truck engine in the distance. The noise grew louder. Then it rumbled night and day. I realized it wasn’t an engine when I discovered the noise was significantly louder in my right ear. Alarmed, I began the process of eliminating possible causes. I finally eliminated all causes—except for EMF.
I read every book I could find about EMF. I read dozens of books, watched videos on the topic, and spoke to EMF experts. During this period my son chose to research EMF for science fair project. His initial idea was to build something for me (like a tinfoil helmet) to reduce my exposure. That idea evolved into measuring the EMF levels emitted by all electronics in our house.
My son’s science project would go on to regionals in our state. Yet for me, the most important thing was how it contributed to our understanding of EMF. It was a launch pad driving us deeper into research, and led to the implementation of many EMF mitigation strategies. Our entire family benefited from it.
My son’s 4th-grade science fair project on EMF at Southern Arizona regionals.
Olin in front of his project board.
It took months, but what we learned helped us take actions to mitigate EMF exposure. My tinnitus began fading and then diminished significantly so that it is not a daily issue for me. This was empowering for me because I took positive actions that made a difference in my health. The process continues because EMF is not going away. I remain vigilant. Yet, I hope my experience can help you reduce your EMF exposure, or avoid developing EMF sensitivity.
I still use cell phones and other digital devices. But I use them less and in much smarter ways. Ways that reduce my EMF exposure. Due to my research and experience with EMF, my awareness of its dangers is such that my thinking on the topic is forever changed. I can never take EMF safety for granted. That is a good thing.
EMF FROM SMART METERS, CELL PHONES, SOLAR INVERTERS, ETC.
Smart meters and DC-to-AC solar inverters can produce high levels of electromagnetic interference (EMI), which is one form of EMF. For more information on EMI, read Samuel Milham’s Dirty Electricity (see resources section below). After reading that book, I considered the possibility that EMI could be contributing to my problems with EMF.
I learned that any device (like an inverter) that converts DC power (say from solar panels) into AC power (home outlets) can add unwanted forms of electricity into the AC power. Clean (60 Hz) electricity becomes polluted by electromagnetic interference. The higher the levels of this EMI or “dirty” electricity, the greater the amount of health effects.
I obtained a broadband EMI meter from Greenwave to measure dirty electricity in my home. I measured EMI levels with the solar system running at midday. Recommended EMI levels are 25–50 millivolts. Yet, every outlet in the house measured almost 2,000 millivolts (1,986 millivolts to be precise!).
I shut off the solar inverter (disabling it and two smart meters) to measure baseline dirty electricity. EMI levels dropped to less than 200 millivolts! This meant one thing: components of our solar system causing high levels (1700+ millivolts) of dirty electricity.
Greenwave meter measures dirty electricity in home electrical systems.
My first solution was to purchase multiple plug-in Greenwave EMI filters. I installed them in about 25 outlets throughout my home. They reduced EMI significantly, but they did not reduce it much in the outlets nearest to area that houses the breaker box, solar inverter, and smart meters. A few outlets away from that area exhibited stubbornly high EMI (1,500+ millivolts).
After further research, I called Satic USA. Satic is a solar company that understands that EMI can affect people. They have products designed to condition an electrical system to remove dirty electricity. I purchased a line conditioner (Super Duty Power Perfect Box) from Satic specifically created to clean EMI from photovoltaic (PV) solar systems.
Note: Satic describes its line conditioners primarily as energy saving devices and protectors of electrical equipment. Clean power is more efficient. Yet, clean, conditioned AC power means reduced EMI. Thus, there is a human health component built-in, if you will.
The Power Perfect Box was installed by an electrician near our breaker box. This line conditioner (containing two harmonic rectifiers) removed many unwanted harmonics and transients induced into our homes’ electrical system by the solar inverter and smart meters.
Above all, I felt better. I could focus better. I slept better. So did everyone else in the house. And my tinnitus began to diminish.
Satic USA’s “Power Perfect Box” is a line conditioner that directly connects to the breaker box where it “cleans” your AC power using two harmonic rectifiers.
I highly recommend obtaining a Power Perfect Box if you have a smart meter, solar power inverter, or dirty electricity (EMI) coming from your utility. Measure baseline dirty electricity in AC outlets using a broadband EMI meter (like Greenwave) after turning off your solar inverter and and smart meters.
Satic makes several types of Power Perfect Box. Which one you need depends on how many harmonic rectifiers your electrical system requires. They also make smaller, lower-cost in-line and plug-in EMF Eliminator devices, which act as high-capacity EMI filters. These provide less protection than a Power Perfect Box, but more than a Greenwave filter. Satic will recommend products based on your unique needs. If you contact Satic to order, speak to Alden, mention my name, and he may offer you a discount.
At Satic’s recommendation, I kept the plug-in Greenwave filters in power outlets throughout my home. Between the line conditioner and the Greenwave filters, EMI now ranges from 15 millivolts to 300 millivolts in most outlets during the day. It is lowest (10–50 millivolts) at night when the solar system is not running.
Note: Many homes only require Greenwave plug-in filters because EMI (dirty electricity) levels are already low to moderate (100-300 millivolts), as measured by a Greenwave meter. However, a residence or office with a typical solar panel installation peaks at about 2,000 millivolts. Thus, a solar-powered home, office, or school may require a dedicated line conditioner to reduce EMI below reductions obtained by plug-in filters.
Multiple Greenwave filters plugged into AC outlets can further reduce EMI. The combination of a line conditioner (like Satic USA’s Power Perfect Box) and plug-in Greenwave filters works well to bring EMI down to safer levels.
Greenwave EMI filters plug into household outlets to reduce dirty electricity.
NOT DONE WITH EMF YET
Another EMF issue arose. It seems my exposure to EMF from the home solar system prior to mitigation had led to a general sensitivity to EMF from other sources. That is, even though I had reduced my exposure to fields relating to the solar panel system and its parts (smart meters, solar inverter, solar-related Wi-Fi equipment), I had nevertheless become more sensitive to EMF from cell phones, cellular phone data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, vehicle electronics, and other sources.
This sensitivity meant that mitigating dirty electricity (EMI) and reducing the tinnitus, while helpful, would not be sufficient to stop my suffering related to other EMF sources. It would take effort to identify the sources, and then remove or mitigate them.
Meters are your best friend when it comes to measuring EMF. About the same time I found the Greenwave EMI meter—EMI is just one type of EMF—I obtained three or four meters designed to measure other types of electromagnetic fields.
Some of my favorite meters are the Acoustimeter AM-10 (from EMFields), the Trifield 100XE (from Alpha Labs), and the ME3030B (from Gigahertz Solutions). Each meter can provide different insights into how much EMF exposure you receive from various sources
EMFields AM-10 Acoustimeter is versatile and easy to use.
I began the process of measuring every type of device from iPads to cell phone chargers. I carried meters with me everywhere I went. During his science fair project, I helped my son measure and document readings from EMF sources at multiple distances. This data would be invaluable for my own mitigation efforts.
Overall, EMF levels were far greater than I expected, and from a wider variety of sources not just mobile phones or Wi-Fi routers. For example, wireless toys and cordless phones can be among the worst offenders in the RF frequencies. Even indoor hydroponic systems can generate high levels of dirty electricity.
The TriField Meter 100XE is cost-effective.
Using my meters to obtain accurate measurements, I began reducing my exposure to all sources of EMF. The more I reduced EMF exposures, the better I felt. I noticed—and continue to notice—improvements in focus, mental energy, and overall well being.
EMF MITIGATION SOLUTIONS
If my EMF problems are a challenge to solve, then at least there are some upsides. My research has led me to solutions that allow me to heal and avoid symptoms. I am empowered to act upon my knowledge, and to share it.
In many ways, my experience has been a blessing. I am now aware of EMF dangers. While I would not wish anyone to have my experience, I hope that sharing my experience can help even a few people to avoid adverse health effects of EMF.
Here are some actions you can take that have helped me. I recommend you take these actions whether or not you feel symptoms or believe you are not affected by EMF.
• Create a wired Internet network in the home. Computers, laptops, and HDTVs can run on hardwired Ethernet connections. Smart phones and tablets can be hardwired using Ethernet adaptor cords. Use Wi-fi routers infrequently (minimize use), or not at all. Keep routers as far away from living areas as possible.
• Keep smart phones in airplane mode whenever possible. Minimize use of cell phones for calls. Use Air tube headsets and speaker phones whenever possible to provide distance from the device.
• Use an anti-radiation mobile phone case (like SafeSleeve). Avoid using mobile phones in a vehicles like cars and buses (as vehicles act as Faraday cages in which signals just bounce around). Keep away from phone or tablet when downloading data. Turn off Wi-Fi and cellular data on the phone most of the time.
• Never keep mobile phones in pockets or close to the body. Turn phone off or use airplane mode if phone must be kept in proximity to the body.
• Turn off electronics (phones, routers, Bluetooth devices) at night. Keep cell phones and other electronics out of your bedroom. Put your router on timer switch to shut off automatically at 9 or 10 pm.
• Use a landline phone. Yes, landline phone service still exists in most places.
• Obtain a good general EMF meter or two, such as a Trifield, Acoustimer, Cornet, or ME3030B (Gigahertz Solutions). Test your house and your devices.
• Test for electromagnetic interference (EMI) in household outlets using a EMI meter. Install a line conditioner and/or EMI filters (to reduce “dirty electricity”). You can obtain EMI meters and filters from Greenwave or Stetzer.
• Shield smart meters using “radiant barrier” anti-radiation materials, like Satic Shield (from Satic USA) or Reflectix (available at Home Depot). Place shielding on the interior wall opposite the meter. There are also metal meter cages for blocking fields coming from the face and sides of smart meter.
• Consider an in-line conditioner for your electrical system, especially if you have a smart meter or solar panels—or measure significant amounts (300+ millivolts) of dirty electricity on your wiring. I am pleased with Satic USA’s line conditioner (Power Perfect Box) that attaches to my electrical breaker box. If you contact Satic to order a line conditioner, ask to speak to Alden. Mention my name, and he may give you a discount.
• Keep a Faraday bag available for times when you want to block all signals to or from your smart phone or other devices. They are available for less than $20.
The more simple actions I take to reduce EMF, the better I feel. The list of actions I take to reduce EMF exposure grows weekly, it seems. Most of my symptoms have gone away. However, I have no desire to risk them coming back. Whenever possible, I avoid other people using cell phones, reduce time spent in places with Wi-Fi routers, smart meters, cell phone towers, etc.
I have become more sensitive than some of my meters (at least sometimes), so I feel that I am nearly a kind of meter myself in terms detecting the presence and magnitude of electromagnetic fields. Even so, I am often surprised by high EMF readings using my meters. Takeaway: Relying solely on yourself (no matter how sensitive you think you are), is not the best idea.
The most important thing you can do is to obtain a good EMF meter. Measure around your house, your devices, and appliances. Unless you actually have a meter, you will not likely optimize EMF reduction—because you can’t see EMFs. If cost is an issue, certain online stores let you rent EMF meters. Get started today!
BEST SUPPLEMENTS FOR EMF
The first lines of defense against EMF should be increasing distance from EMF sources, and reducing duration of exposure. These make a huge difference for protecting health.
One cannot control all sources of exposure. Neighbors have routers, smart meters, antennas, and other sources of EMF generating electronic pollution (“electrosmog”). Wi-Fi is nearly everywhere these days.
A huge component in EMF defense is nutritional supplements. Why? Because levels of EMF to which we are commonly exposed result in oxidative stress requiring high levels of antioxidants to quench free radicals. Fortunately, HPDI produces some of the best nutritional supplements available for dealing with EMF.
I already had a good diet and took plenty of high-quality nutritional supplements when my problems with EMF started. What I began doing differently was 1) taking generally higher doses of antioxidants and 2) targeting my antioxidant defense systems with specific antioxidant supplements.
By focusing on meeting my higher needs for antioxidants, and by adding specific supplements known for their antioxidant capabilities, I believe I mitigate the worst adverse effects of EMF. Antioxidant supplements noticeably support my ability to function as normally as possible given both my past experiences with EMF, and the ongoing daily needs for antioxidant defense.
I will describe the supplements I believe are most important to take for EMF exposure. I take all these supplements. I include every one of these supplements because each offers a unique benefit. Together they are the most essential formulas to help both with routine, daily exposures to EMF (like Wi-Fi and cell phones), as well as other types of exposures, such as proximity to potent EMF sources from smart meters to cell phone towers.
ANTIOXIDANT & VITAMIN C FORMULAS
The primary type of damage caused by EMF is oxidative stress, the most important type of nutritional supplements to help with free-radical damage are antioxidant formulas, including vitamin C and Nrf2 activator supplements. HPDI offers a complete range of antioxidant and Nrf2 activator products.
PRO-C™ ANTIOXIDANT FORMULA
PRO-C™ is an advanced free-radical protection formula. It performs double-duty as both a potent vitamin C formula and an superb antioxidant formula. It therefore provides important benefits when used in applications requiring Vitamin C and/or free-radical defense, e.g., protocols for general health, anti-aging, rejuvenation, etc.

If I were to take just one antioxidant/vitamn C formula, PRO-C™ would be it. However, I also take another antioxidant formula called Ultimate Protector. I believe the combination of the two superb formulas works even better for EMF exposure. That’s partly because Ultimate Protector activates Nrf2 in cells allowing them to generate their own antioxidants.

OTHER FOUNDATIONAL FORMULAS
I emphasize the importance of antioxidant formulas because they are most effective at quenching the free-radicals caused by exposure to electromagnetic fields. In reality, HPDI’s antioxidant and vitamin C formulas are part of a complete system of HPDI supplements. This three-tiered system includes foundational supplements, enhancement formulas, and condition-specific formulas.
While antioxidant supplements are most important EMF defense, the truth is that antioxidant supplements work far better when they are properly combined with other foundational supplements in the HPDI system. That is, a high-potency multivitamin, essential fatty acids, and a Rejuvenate!™ superfood.
The case for multivitamins is abundantly clear. If you look at the list of harmful effects of EMF (above), you will see that in addition to free-radical damage, EMF harms many essential biological functions in cells. Many of these functions cause cells to require additional vitamins and minerals. These nutrients can be provided by a high-potency multivitamin that provides both optimal amounts (versus minimal amounts) of nutrients, but also proper forms (like coenzyme vitamins) that are most readily assimilated and used by the body. Such forms are immediately used and do not require conversion to usable forms.
HPDI Multivitamins include five different formulas, including a children’s chewable that scales up easily for adults. Two of the primary multivitamins are Multi Two Caps and Mighty Multi-Vite (caps).
Multi Two Caps – A comprehensive multivitamin providing optimal levels of key vitamins, minerals, and cofactors. Includes higher levels of B vitamins.
Mighty-Multi-Vite! – Similar to Multi Two Caps, but offers higher levels of key phytonutrients turmeric, grape extract, and broccoli sprouts powder.
HPDI’s high-potency multivitamins provide:
• B-Complex vitamins: B-Complex vitamins supports enzyme systems. Enzymes are required for all metabolic functions in the body. B vitamins are cofactors required for every enzymatic reaction.
• Minerals. HPDI multivitamins provide 10 or more key minerals. Like B vitamins, minerals support enzyme systems. At the center is every enzyme is an important mineral necessary for its function.
• NAC (N-Acetyl-Cysteine): NAC increases glutathione levels, which are important antioxidant defense in the body.
• Fat-soluble vitamins A, C, D, E, and K. Fat soluble vitamins perform many essential functions, including protection of cell membranes.

If I could only take a single supplement daily, it would be a multivitamin. I personally prefer HPDI’s Mighty Multi-Vite!. But Multi Two actually provides higher levels of important B vitamins.
Multivitamins are too vital not to take daily. Fortunately, you are not limited to taking a single supplement. That is why I put antioxidant and vitamin C formulas at the top of the list for protection against EMF. The truth is, however, that both a multivitamin and antioxidants are essential for foundational nutrition. You need both to ensure optimal protection from EMF. There are a few more critical nutrients you need, as well.
ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS (EFA)
Another important foundational supplement is essential fatty acids (EFA). Essential fats are critical for cellular function, cell membrane health, combating inflammatory processes, and overall health. Essential fats are necessary for cellular health. Yet, because EMF creates problems at the cellular level, it is even more vital to obtain essential fats to help cells function at their best.
People overlook the importance of essential fats. That is, I notice that multivitamins and antioxidants are far more likely to be prioritized, and therefore taken daily. Fair enough, because I prioritize those supplements too. Yet, we neglect essential fats at our peril. That is why I take EFAs daily, too.
IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS OF ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS (EFA)
• Regulate steroid production and hormone synthesis • Regulate pressure in the eyes, joints, and blood vessels • Regulate response to pain, inflammation, and swelling • Mediate Immune Response • Regulate bodily secretions and their viscosity • Dilate or constrict blood vessels • Regulate smooth muscle and autonomic reflexes • Are primary constituents of cellular membranes • Regulate the rate at which cells divide • Necessary for the transport of oxygen from the red blood cells to tissues • Necessary for proper kidney function and fluid balance • Prevent red blood cells from clumping together • Regulate nerve transmission
When by diet or supplementation, you consume the correct ratios and amounts of essential fatty acids, then you allow the EFAs to act in ways critical for these functions. For more detailed information, see Dr. Hank’s article, “The Truth About Essential Fatty Acids” (December 2017).
HPDI’s essential fatty acids formula is Essential Fats Plus E. Essential Fats Plus E provides essential fasts in the proper amounts and ratios for good health.
Essential Fats Plus E contains eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) (important essential omega-3 fatty acids), gamma linolenic acid (GLA) (an important essential omega-6 fatty acid), and mixed tocotrienols and tocopherols (Vitamin E).
The EPA and DHA are in the form of triglycerides derived from marine lipids (using patented flash molecular distillation) and the GLA is from cold-pressed borage seed oil. The mixed tocotrienols and tocopherols derive from rice bran oil, and are included in the softgel capsules for antioxidant protection of the polyunsaturated oils.
Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are known to play important roles in the formation of prostaglandins. The prostaglandins are important cellular regulators controlling inflammatory processes and pain in the body.
Fish oils may be useful adjuncts in protocols for 1) Cardiovascular disease, 2) Hypertension, 3) Arthritis and inflammatory disorders, 4) Psoriasis and skin problems, 5) Diabetes mellitus, 6) Depression, and 7) Kidney disease. GLA may be a useful adjunct in protocols for 1) Multiple Sclerosis and 2) Arthritis. Research indicates that in a balanced formula there are synergistic effects between EPA, DHA, and GLA. For example, it is known that EPA inhibits the conversion of GLA into pro-inflammatory (and pain-causing) arachidonic acid.
Research indicates that in a balanced formula there are synergistic effects between EPA, DHA, and GLA. For example, it is known that EPA inhibits the conversion of GLA into pro-inflammatory (and pain-causing) arachidonic acid.
Because these fatty acids have many double bonds that are prone to oxidation, Vitamin E is included in the forms of mixed tocotrienols and tocopherols. In addition, these forms of Vitamin E have been shown to reduce arterial plaques and enhance blood flow, inhibit thromboxane and platelet aggregation, protect serum lipids from oxidation (including LDL and HDL), reduce carotid stenosis (narrowing) and prevent stroke, trap harmful nitrogenous radicals, act as anti-proliferative agents, and provide powerful oxidative defense for the skin.
Essential fatty acids are considered “essential” for all the reasons described. They are so critical for proper cellular function that not having sufficient essential fats (or the proper ratios) can impair important processes in the body. I believe EMF exposure puts additional stress on cells such that essential fats are even more necessary. So take an EFA supplement like Essential Fasts Plus E every day.
Megahydrate (powder and capsules) provides H-, or the hydrogen anion, which provides lasting antioxidant protection. It this regard, it is highly effective at quenching free radical (even better than molecular hydrogen), greatly enhances the production of ATP (cellular energy) in the body, retains its antioxidant capacity for extended periods, and is the key unlocking the potential of water as the medium for nutrient replenishment and waste removal at the cellular level.
The active ingredient in Megahydrate is silica hydride. One very important characteristic of the antioxidant capacity of silica hydride is that it is the only antioxidant that does not turn into a free radical (i.e., oxidant) once it has neutralized a free radical by donating its electron. Negatively-charged hydrogen turns into molecular hydrogen gas and/or turns into water.
One daily dose of Megahydrate has more antioxidant power than hundreds of glasses of fresh vegetable and fruit juices, broccoli, brussel sprouts, leafy greens, and other foods rich in antioxidants and prevents free radical damage.
Studies show that Megahydrate increases energy production (adenosine triphosphate or ATP) by up to four times.

I drink Megahydrate daily in water. I find it very energizing and it seems to potentiate the other antioxidant supplements. Usually I drink it mixed with Active H2 Ultra, which provides molecular hydrogen. But sometimes I drink Megahydrate all by itself, as it is an excellent standalone hydrogen formula.
ACTIVE H2 ULTRA
ACTIVE H2® ULTRA is my favorite molecular hydrogen formula. In fact, I almost always add this tablet into water that is already infused with Megahydrate. That is, I believe this formula works best when taken together with Megahydrate. I like this combination “fizzy” drink so much, I created a video showing how to make it.
Active H2 Ultra tablets provides abundant hydrogen molecules that are uniquely found in fresh, raw, living foods and are essential to any serious antioxidation program.
A unique and patent pending combination of magnesium and supporting nutrients are the only active substances in Active H2 Ultra. This distinguishes it from the existing synthetic chemical formulas as well as the use of electrolysis (as in water ionizers) to generate molecular hydrogen.
The natural, proven Active H2 Ultra formula consists of a proprietary blend of pure magnesium metal, malic acid, tartaric acid, stearic acid, and dextrose that act synergistically in water to generate Molecular Hydrogen and electron-rich potential (-ORP).

You can drink as soon as the tablet dissolves – thereby getting greater amount of hydrogen than in tablets that take longer to dissolve.
Hydrogen is emerging among the top super-nutrition discoveries of the 21st century. I am not waiting to gain its benefits. Just as many athletes are using it to gain a competitive advantage, I take Active H2 Ultra and Megahydrate for their effective antioxidant benefits and much more, including EMF protection. And so should you.
RESTORE is one of those products that go beyond anything else I’ve seen in terms of what is can do and how it does it. In fact, I recently published an article devoted solely to Restore (see “Restore Gut Health Formula + Video”).
The reason I include RESTORE in my list of top formulas for EMF exposure is because it protects the integrity of the gut barrier or tight junctions, supports the communications system in the gut microbiome, and acts as a fertilizer for the microbiome itself. These are important effects because EMF breaks down tight junctions, interferes with microbiome communications (as gut bacteria use their own weak EMF signals to communicate), and reduces microbiome health.
RESTORE is a soil-derived, scientifically backed mineral supplement that creates a firewall against toxins entering the gut wall. RESTORE helps create a biological environment for “good” gut bacteria to grow and flourish in order to support improvement of overall health.
RESTORE is not a probiotic. It is not a prebiotic. Rather, it is a carbon rich, alkaline liquid, with lignite derived trace organics and essential trace amino acids, that promotes an optimal environment in the gut. With 70% of the immune system located in the gut, this optimal gut environment leads to great gut health.
Research has shown RESTORE to be non-toxic and to support the tight junction cells of the gut lining. Additionally, RESTORE has been shown both in the laboratory and clinically to help support the functioning of the gut barrier and improve gut health. In experiments, toxins like herbicides and gluten have been shown to degrade the gut barrier. RESTORE has been shown to promote the strengthening of the tight junction gut barrier in small and large gut membrane cells for gut health.
One of the main elements in RESTORE is the lignite extract. Lignite comes from decomposed prehistoric matter. As plants decompose, they first form peat, which then turns into humate, then lignite, then leonardite and finally to coal. All of these are rich in carbon. One of the differences between all of these elements is the amount of time and pressure have been applied to them.
OTHER IMPORTANT SUPPLEMENTS MITIGATING EMF EFFECTS
My list of favorite supplements for EMF could be much longer. I will mention two other types of supplements I think can be useful for most people. One is magnesium and the other is C-60 (or Carbon-60).
Magnesium is critical for supporting and enabling at least 400 enzymes in the body that are needed for the vital reactions in cells. EMF can damage or impair enzyme function. Therefore sufficient magnesium is essential for optimal cell function. One known problem is that most people are deficient in magnesium. When enzyme systems lack magnesium, they fail to properly function, resulting in many problems in the body, including lower energy production (ATP) and deficient metabolism.
Magnesium also balances calcium in cells. When EMF causes voltage gated calcium channels (VGCC) to open flooding cells with calcium, the presence of magnesium may help because one of the functions of magnesium is preventing cellular calcium imbalances. Not to mention the role of magnesium in energy production—as energy is required to pump excess calcium out of cells.
One of my favorite magnesium products is MYO-MAG. MYO-MAG is an advanced, synergistic magnesium formula that provides therapeutic levels of magnesium, plus nutrients that support the body’s utilization of magnesium.
MYO-MAG provides magnesium in the form of malate and diglycinate, as well as Vitamins B1, B2, and B6 (including coenzyme forms of these vitamins). The formula is buffered with a small amount of magnesium carbonate, and includes some manganese for mineral balance.
MYO-MAG therefore is a highly effective oral magnesium supplement with benefits that include less fatigue and greater energy, improved metabolic functions, cardiovascular support, nutrition for muscles, reduced spasms or cramps, help for migraine headaches, and many others.
The formula not only supports metabolism, but also cellular energy production (ATP) and optimal cellular function. It allows for rapid uptake and absorption of easily assimilated forms of magnesium. It also provides critical nutrients supporting energy production in the body.
Because MYO-MAG rapidly boosts magnesium levels, individuals usually notice greater physical and mental energy, reduced fatigue, and often a greater sense of overall well being.
MYO-MAG provides magnesium important for cellular energy.
MYO-MAG contains ingredients participating in the production of ATP. One vegetarian capsule contains 100 mg of magnesium and 440 mg of l-malic acid. Vitamins B1 and B2 are included both in standard and phosphorylated forms. Also included are Vitamin B6 in its phosphorylated form only, manganese (because high levels of magnesium can deplete the body of it), magnesium carbonate (a malic acid buffer), and glycine as the carrier for a portion of the magnesium and for the manganese. MYO-MAG is contained in a vegetarian capsule to ensure rapid assimilation.
Supplementing the diet with magnesium and malic acid may reverse conditions of low energy. Suggested daily amounts include 300-600 mg of magnesium and 1200–2400 mg of malic acid. Taking 3 to 8 MYO-MAG capsules daily can provide these amounts. Beyond this formula, HPDI offers a complete range of magnesium formulas, including Ancient Minerals topical magnesium chloride products (oil, flakes, and gel).
Carbon-60 or C-60 is an experimental supplement providing extremely high antioxidant capacities. Carbon-60 provides research grade Carbon-60 Fullerenes (0.8 mg/ml) in organic olive oil. While this formula is formulated for research, it is known to be among the most powerful antioxidants available. The structure of the Fullerene allows for a large number of electrons to be held and repeatedly donated for the purpose of quenching free radicals. It therefore offers unrivaled antioxidant capacity in the body.
I will be talking a lot more about Carbon-60 in coming months. Suffice it to say that the research is showing that C-60 may be the future of antioxidant nutrition.
Few people have paid much attention to the dangers of EMF until recently. There is growing awareness that EMF contributes to health problems, as well as the mechanisms by which EMF damages the body. Given the rise in health conditions likely to be related to EMF exposure, it makes sense to take action now, rather than unnecessarily risking harmful effects of exposures.
There are many actions you take to protect yourself and your family. These include turning off Wi-Fi, putting cell phones on airplane mode, shielding smart meters (or keeping your analog meters), increasing distance from EMF sources, and reducing duration of exposure.
Taking nutritional supplements providing good levels of antioxidant nutrients and supporting metabolic functions makes a lot of sense, too. Supplements have helped me be healthier and recover faster from EMF exposures. They likely can help you and yours do the same.
EMF damages your cells daily. Take action to protect yourself!

Supplemental hydrogen is fast becoming essential in many people’s nutritional supplement regimens. Why? Because hydrogen offers significant health benefits, including excellent antioxidant protection, increased energy, faster recovery, and improved well-being. Who doesn’t want those benefits?
My favorite way to take hydrogen is to make hydrogen-infused water, or what I call a hydrogen “fizzy” drink. Two products I like best are Active H2 Ultra tablets and Megahydrate (available in powder and capsules). Active H2 Ultra provides molecular hydrogen (H2) and Megahydrate provides hydride (H-). Both are great standalone formulas, yet work well together as each provides unique means to quench free radicals effectively.
MAKE “FIZZY” HYDROGEN-INFUSED WATER WITH ACTIVE H2 ULTRA
Drinking H2-rich water is an easy and effective method for obtaining hydrogen, according to the Molecular Hydrogen Foundation. Making hydrogen-infused water is simple and convenient, as you can drink it at home or while traveling. Effective hydrogen products HPDI carries include Active H2 Ultra tablets, Megahydrate powder, and Megahydrate capsules.
My favorite hydrogen drink contains both Active H2 Ultra and Megahydrate. I take these products separately at times, but find it easier to take them together—and gain the benefits of both immediately.
Active H2 Ultra tablets and Megahydrate powder work together for major antioxidant power.
DIRECTIONS: Put one scoop of Megahydrate powder (or open one capsule) into your container of water. Let sit for about 30–60 seconds. Drop in one Active H2 Ultra tablet. Allow it to effervesce for one minute or until fully dissolved. Drink immediately. For best assimilation, preferably take on an empty stomach at least 10–15 minutes before food. Wait one hour after eating to drink hydrogen-infused water.
Note: Do not wait long after effervesce stops to drink the water because hydrogen will escape into the air. Alternatively you can cap the container with a lid, and this will allow the hydrogen to last a while longer.
Molecular hydrogen is sufficiently small to pass through glass, so use a metal container if you plan to cap it. If you drink immediately, then the type container you use won’t matter. I personally prefer a glass mason jar. This allows me to see the tablet dissolve, but also means drinking it immediately.
I make 1–3 hydrogen fizzy drinks daily, first in the morning and then in the afternoon, but almost never in the evening as it can be energizing. I drink hydrogen water on an empty stomach. I gain a significant energy boost, but also other benefits, including improved athletic performance, faster recovery from exercise, and an overall greater sense of well-being.
I highly recommend you try hydrogen supplements for yourself, and then consider them for your clients or patients. Our experience is that most people are pleasantly surprised by the results they get from hydrogen supplements, especially if they have a need for exceptional free-radical defense, or stand to benefit from the proven effects of hydrogen (see list below).
You will want to continue taking hydrogen supplements regularly because the benefits are so significant, especially over time. Let the power of hydrogen starting working for you.
Active H2 Ultra is a fast-effervescing tablet.
MOLECULAR HYDROGEN BACKGROUND
More than 1,000 scientific studies indicate molecular hydrogen offers therapeutic potential in 170 disease models, and every organ of the body, according to the Molecular Hydrogen Institute.
Hydrogen is an antioxidant. It is also an extremely small molecule that can penetrate even the tiniest cellular compartments. This helps explain how hydrogen works to offer free-radical defense throughout the entire body.
The medical and scientific literature is clear. Hydrogen’s modes of action:
• H2 reduces oxidative stress as a selective antioxidant and by maintaining homeostatic levels of glutathione, superoxide dismutase, catalase, etc.
• H2, like other gaseous signaling molecules (i.e. NO, CO, H2S), appears to have cell signal-modulating activity affording it with anti-inflammatory, anti-obesity, and anti-allergy benefits.
The scientific literature discusses the use of molecular hydrogen for many clinical applications, including:
• Metabolic Syndrome including diabetes, hyperlipidemia, arteriosclerosis, hypertension, and obesity
• Ischemia/reperfusion injuries, including cerebral and myocardial infarctions, organ transplants, post-cardiac arrest
• Neuroprotection, including applications for dementia, Parkinson’s disease, depression, and anesthesia
• Inflammation, including applications for polymicrobial sepsis, rheumatoid arthritis, wound healing, and bowel diseases
• Mitochondrial diseases
• Hemodialysis and ventilation
• Aging, including cognitive decline
• Exercise, including applications for fatigue, lactic acid, recovery, and oxidative stress related to heavy exercise
• Side effects of cancer therapies, including radiotherapy and chemotherapy
• Many other benefits

HOW HYDROGEN WORKS
According to the Molecular Hydrogen Foundation, there are three ways molecular hydrogen exerts positive health effects:
1. Molecular hydrogen easily diffuses into subcellular compartments where it scavengescytotoxic oxygen radicals, thereby protecting DNA, RNA, and proteins against oxidative stress.
2. Molecular hydrogen triggers activation or upregulation of additional antioxidant enzymes (e.g., glutathione, superoxide dismutase, catalase, and others) and/or cytoprotective proteins of the body.
3. Molecular hydrogen may be a novel signaling molecule that alters cell signaling, cell metabolism, and gene expression. This may explain its apparent anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and anti-apoptotic (or anti-cell death) effects.
Notably, two of these three mechanisms of action involve antioxidant activity. Hydrogen is one of the best antioxidants for all the reasons discussed, and we believe it acts synergistically with other antioxidants, including Vitamin C, glutathione, and Nrf2 activators (like those in HPDI’s Ultimate Protector).
MEGAHYDRATE MAKES MOLECULAR HYDROGEN BETTER
Why add Megahydrate to your hydrogen-infused water? Because Megahydrate provides hydride, the negative anion of hydrogen, or H-. Thus, a tiny scoop of Megahydrate provides vast quantities of electrons available to quench free radicals. Unlike molecular hydrogen, which dissipates quickly into the air, and therefore must be consumed immediately, hydride rich water (about -700 ORP!) may last for three weeks in an active state. That is a good reason to take Megahydrate by itself whether or not you already use it with molecular hydrogen in your hydrogen “fizzy” drink (see recipe above).
Megahydrate (powder or capsule) provides hydride (H-) for free radical defense.
The interesting thing about H- is that after it gives up its electron, it becomes simply “H” or atomic hydrogen. It then looks to pair up with another “H” to become H2, which is molecular hydrogen. In this way, Megahydrate not only gives you large quantities of stable H- and potent antioxidant capabilities, but also then creates molecular hydrogen in your body. This means it becomes a different kind of antioxidant, H2, which is therapeutic in itself.
By adding Megahydrate to your hydrogen-infused water (as described above), you create a unique “double whammy” drink in which you maximize the powers of hydrogen (H2 and H-) to create and maintain good health.
Note:Megahydrate powder is more cost effective than Megahydrate capsules, which must be opened into the fizzy drink. However, Megahydrate capsules are convenient for traveling and are easy to take by themselves. I keep both available, so I can use either one depending on my daily needs.
DRINKING HYDROGEN-INFUSED WATER
Drinking H2-rich water is an easy, effective method for obtaining hydrogen according to the Molecular Hydrogen Foundation. Drinking hydrogen-infused water is convenient as you can drink it at home or while traveling. Effective hydrogen products HPDI carries include Active H2 Ultra tablets, Megahydrate capsules, and Megahydrate powder.
As noted, I make 1–3 hydrogen drinks daily using Megahydrate and Active H2 Ultra. I drink them on an empty stomach. I enjoy a significant energy boost, which helps power me through my day. I gain other benefits, including improved athletic performance, noticeably faster recovery from exercise, and an overall greater sense of well-being.
The nice thing about hydrogen supplements is how flexibly you can use them. While I typically prefer to make hydrogen-infused “fizzy” drinks in water, I will often sip Megahydrate-infused water by itself during the day or even in the evening (as it is less energizing than molecular hydrogen).
Megahydrate does not immediately lose its potency in water, so it can be casually sipped. Also, if you’re traveling or on-the-go, you can simply swallow a Megahydrate capsule by itself. Finally, you can carry Active H2 Ultra tablets with you wherever you go, and add them to water whenever convenient for you.
Megahydrate and Active H2 Ultra creates an ultra-healthy hydrogen fizzy drink.
Try hydrogen supplements for yourself. Then consider recommending them to client, patients, friends, and family. Most people welcome the results from hydrogen. This is especially true if they need exceptional free-radical defense — and who doesn’t? We can all stand to benefit from the proven health benefits hydrogen uniquely provides.
After you try hydrogen, you will want to continue taking it. Hydrogen-infused “fizzy” water can become your go-to drink. Remember, hydrogen works best when taken consistently and daily!
