Ultimate Protector™ contains black soybean hull extract, as well components from 29 different fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Each of these ingredients contain substances that may be considered to be polyphenols, antioxidants, and Nrf2 activators. In this article I explore the ingredient black soybean hull extract, which is a component of Anthocomplete™ from Futureceuticals.
AnthoComplete™ (N669) is a specially designed blend of anthocyanins derived from wild bilberry and wild blueberry, acai, black currant extract, sweet cherry, raspberry, elderberry, blackberry, aronia, non-GMO black soybean hull extract, and blue corn. Anthocyanins are powerful plant polyphenols associated with a variety of areas of human health, including healthy aging, healthy glucose metabolism, cardiovascular health, and inflammation management.
Carefully designed to maximize the amount of beneficial anthocyanins that can be available in a single source, AnthoComplete is a proprietary formula suitable for a wide-range of applications.
With its diverse blend, AnthoComplete contains a minimum level of 10% anthocyanins, 3,000 ORAC μmole TE/g (typical), and 15% total phenolics (typical).
Owing to the high levels of anthocyanins, an important type of antioxidants, black soybean hull extract has been shown by scientific research to have many benefits in promoting health and preventing diseases. The antioxidant polyphenols in black soybean hull extract (particularly anthocyanins) may help in maintaining cardiovascular health, aging and brain health, urinary tract health and healthy vision.
Black Soybeans – source of black soybean hull extract
Black soybean hull extract (Glycine max) has been used in a wide variety of foods for many years. Ongoing research is further showing the benefits of black soybean hull extract based largely on the polyphenolic content and its related products.
This product is selected non-genetically modified seed coat black beans. It is rich in anthocyanin and anthocyanidins that protect capillaries and promote red blood cell regeneration.
Helps to renew eyesight, reduces eye inflammation, and alleviates visual fatigue
Helps reduce dementia
Reduces blood fat and blood sugar
Reduces oxidized LDL cholesterol levels
Reduces blood pressure
Accelerates circulation of blood
Helps beautify skin
Supports weight loss
Helps to ameliorate adiposity
Significantly supports conditions associated with menopause
Supports the reduction of night sweats, dizziness and headaches
Reduce muscle recovery time after workout
In addition, the anthocyanins have been shown to positively influence the α-glucosidase phase of starch digestion providing a reduction of sugar release during starch food digestion.
Also, black soybean hull extract is a good source of glycosylated flavonols. Scientific studies at the fundamental cellular level have indicated that these compounds can interact with the bodies own innate Antioxidant Response Elements (ARE), such as the transcription factor Nrf2, and more specifically stimulate expression of the detoxification enzymes such as NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase, glutathione S-transferase, and uridine diphosphate-glucuronosyltransferase isoenzymes.
Scientific Studies on the Antioxidant Effects of Black Soybean Hull Extract
Below, I provide a few relevant scientific studies on the antioxidant effects and potential health benefits of Black soybean hull extract.
Oral Toxicological Studies of Black Soybean (Glycine max) Hull Extract: Acute Studies in Rats and Mice, and Chronic Studies in Mice.
Black soybean (Glycine max) has been used for traditional medicine and food in Asian countries, but safety of its hull has not been studied. We conducted acute and chronic oral toxicity studies. For the acute study, an extract of black soybean hull (BE; 2.5 g/kg body weight) was administered singly by intragastric intubation to Sprague-Dawley rats and C57BL/6 mice. There was no death or significant decrease in body weight in rats and mice, and the oral LD(50) of BE was >2.5 g/kg body weight. In the chronic study, BE was administered at dietary levels of 0% (control), 2.0%, and 5.0% to male and female C57BL/6 mice for 26 weeks. No mortality or toxicologically significant clinical changes were observed through the experimental period. Although body weights, as well as abdominal fat, blood levels of triglyceride and total cholesterol in 5.0% males were significantly lower than that in control and 2.0% groups, these changes were considered not to be adverse. Hematology and histopathological observation revealed no toxicologically significant changes. The no-observed adverse-effect-level of BE was estimated to be 5.0% in the diet (5074.1 mg/kg body weight/day for males and 7617.9 mg/kg body weight/day for females).

Soybean Seed Coats: A Source of Ingredients for Potential Human Health Benefits-A Review of the Literature.
Soybean seed coats are an underutilized byproduct from the commercial crushing of soybeans to make soymeal and soy oil. These seed coats constitute 7 to 10% of the weight of a bushel of soybeans so they provide a substantial opportunity to add value to each bushel. Overall, the United States produces approximately 6 million metric tons of seed coats each year. Biologically active compounds contained in soybean seed coats have been shown to prevent and or reduce macular degeneration, obesity, cancer, and many other debilitating diseases. For example, the seed coats of YJ-100 black soybeans contain more than 20 mg/g of anthocyanins, the highest concentration of anthocyanins of all plants materials including other row crops. The purpose of this paper is to examine the chemical content of soybean seed coats, highlight opportunities to add value and discuss the potential health benefits of these chemicals.
Clinical Study of Ocular Function With Food Product Containing Black Soybean Hull Extract
As the number of individuals using VDT (visual display terminals) increases, research investigations concerning diagnosis of asthenopia and methods for evaluation have been reported.
However, all aspects of asthenopia are not fully understood, and the problem has been treated as a single syndrome characterized primarily by an ocular nonspecific complaint. Suzumura1) classified the causes of asthenopia into three groups relating to visual organ factors (ocular capability), external environmental factors (visual conditions), and internal environmental factors and psychological factors (endurance) and explained asthenopia as an imbalance of these three elements. Other reports on treatment of asthenopia have also been made, but there is currently no established method of treatment.
Another recent topic is foods with a notable effect of eliminating “ocular fatigue” and restoring vision. These include anthocyanin glycosides, natural pigments derived from a number of plants. The physiological functions of these substances have interested researchers from various countries.
In particular, anthocyanin extract from bilberries has been approved as a pharmaceutical in Italy, France, and New zealand and is used to treat night blindness, capillary fragility, cerebrovascular disorders, and peptic ulcers. In Japan, Kajimoto2) et al. reported that blueberry extract used in asthenopia and psychological strain had an improving effect.
Based on the fact that the physiological activity of the black soybean hull extract in our clinical study (cyanidin- 3-glucoside) includes promotion of rhodopsin resynthesis and capillary strengthening, and that this substance is an anthocyanin glycoside and contains upwards of 90% cyanidin-3-glucoside, reportedly the anthocyanin highest in antioxidant activity, we surmised that cyanidin-3- glucoside would improve visual function and have an antioxidant effect.
We report good results obtained from a clinical investigation using foods containing black soybean.
Black soybean hull extract is an important ingredient full of polyphenols, anthocyanins, antioxidants, and Nrf2 activators that help to make Ultimate Protector such an outstanding nutritional supplement.
Summer is here. That means lemonade! As in the “Lemonade Diet” or “Master Cleanse.” The lemonade diet is famous since Stanley Burroughs wrote his classic, The Master Cleanser. Hollywood has used his lemonade diet for decades—for health and weight loss. In recent years, the lemonade diet has gone mainstream.
While safe, effective weight loss may be its “claim-to-fame,” the lemonade diet is useful as a kidney cleanser promoting the health of the kidneys and bladder system, including the entire urinary tract. The lemonade diet cleanses kidneys best when combined with kidney-specific herbs like Uva ursi, parsley, cornsilk, and juniper berry.
A major reason lemonade is beneficial for health is that it’s highly alkalinizing in the body. Lemonade itself is acidic on the pH scale. Yet, after it is in the body it acts as an alkalinizer! That might seem counterintuitive. But your health—and alkalinity—can count on lemonade to increase your pH levels.
Acid-alkaline balance is critical for health. Your body must maintain a pH of about 7.35–7.45. If you’re too acidic, then your body will find ways (even robbing your bones for minerals) to buffer acidity. Diets high in fruits and vegetables are more alkaline-forming, at least partly due to high potassium levels. High potassium levels drive higher alkalinity.
You can—and should—measure your pH using litmus paper. Once you’ve got a baseline of your pH levels, you can see for yourself how dietary changes—like the lemonade diet—help move your pH toward greater alkalinity and improved acid-alkaline balance.
Given that modern, Western diets high in meats and simple carbohydrates are acid-forming—often in the extreme—it makes sense that lemonade benefits anyone who needs to be more alkaline. Of course, I’m not talking about sugar-laden, or pre-mixed, artificially sweetened, fake lemonade drinks. I mean real lemonade—which is the only kind that works as a “master cleanser.”
I have written about the lemonade diet, as well about kidney & bladder cleansing. I often perform a 3–7 day summer kidney cleanse using kidney herbs—including tinctures and teas—and follow it with a few days of the lemonade diet.
Make lemonade: squeeze fresh lemons, add maple syrup and cayenne pepper
This summer, I totally reversed order. I started with a 15-day lemonade diet and followed it with a three-day kidney cleanse. You can gain huge alkalinizing (and kidney cleansing) benefits from lemonade alone.
The original recipe for the Lemonade Diet:*
2 Tbsp organic Lemon or Lime Juice 2 Tbsp organic Maple Syrup (dark color/robust taste) (Grade A) 8 ounces fresh water 1/4 tsp organic Cayenne Pepper (optional)
(* from The Complete Master Cleanse)
Modify the recipe to suit your taste. The original recipe can be strong and sweet. However, it provides sufficient calories (from maple syrup) to live on for days, weeks, or longer. Try using lime juice for a different flavor. I often use more water—up to 16 ounces or more—for this amount of ingredients.
Among the nutritional supplements that helps me while lemonade fasting—and especially on the longer fasts—is Rejuvenate! Original Greens superfood. It is highly energizing and nourishing. I recommend using a green superfood like Rejuvenate! Original Greens because it is highly energizing and nutritious, yet light in the body and supports detoxification. You can put it directly into your lemonade or take it separately. I prefer to stir it into my second or third serving of lemonade—so early in the day—but not in my first dose of lemonade.
Not only does Rejuvenate! Original Greens provide powerfully nutrition, including important vitamins and minerals, it also supports detoxification processes as it contains chlorella (40%) and dietary nucleic acids (dietary RNA and DNA). The cell wall of chlorella uniquely has the capacity to grab onto heavy metals, chemical contaminants, and toxins—and sequester them for removal from the body. Dietary nucleic acids are energizing and support detoxification processes.
I have used the “Lemonade Diet” for 20 years—in all seasons—at home and “on the road.” I typically go for one to three weeks. I have successfully completed longer lemonade diets, including several for six weeks and at least one for two months. I may not take Rejuvenate! every day during a lemonade diet, but this superfood provides benefits that help turn a “good” master cleanse in a “great” one.
MY LEMONADE DIET—AND A TWIST
After 15 days of lemonade, I feel lighter, leaner, and totally alkaline. In fact, I am more alkaline after this lemonade diet than ever before. Why? Because I did something different this year—I added a twist to my routine.
Instead of following my usual lemonade diet, I added a new alkalinizing supplement called pH Adjust. It is a pure, white powder that you can add to water or lemonade (or other liquid drinks) providing minerals formulated to boost alkalinity: potassium bicarbonate and glycinate, magnesium carbonate, and sodium bicarbonate.
I sometimes added pH Adjust to my lemonade. Other times I took it by itself in water. I started at one-quarter teaspoon (1/4 tsp) daily, and worked up to one teaspoon (1 tsp) daily over the course of my lemonade diet. Adding pH Adjust to my regimen made a significant difference in my overall alkalinity by increasing my pH levels. And I could feel the difference.
pH Adjust is formulated specifically to alkalinize your body. I believe it can be more alkalinizing than lemonade itself. Yet, lemonade and pH Adjust work well together to increase pH levels.
I test my pH levels daily using pH paper. I find that when compared to lemonade alone, adding pH Adjust boosts my alkalinity noticeably. I easily maintained an alkalinity between 7.4 and 8.0 for my entire 15-day lemonade diet. That is, I could more easily maintain a higher alkalinity than with lemonade alone.
Note: If I were to continue the lemonade diet longer than two or three weeks, I would recommend reducing or stopping use of pH Adjust. That’s because while you most likely want maintain a relatively higher pH level than you had before you started the lemonade diet, it is best not to maintain a pH of 8.0 for extended periods as you run the risk of too high pH. That won’t be a problem for most people, but testing your pH levels using litmus paper is important. Then you will know your pH levels—and can more readily balance your pH.
After you complete the lemonade diet and return to consuming solid foods, then it is advisable to use pH Adjust to maintain a balanced, but relatively alkaline pH of about 7.45—which is actually an optimal pH for health.
Keeping you alkaline is what pH Adjust is formulated to do…and it fulfills that promise—easily! Now it’s up to you to test your pH, get started on a more alkaline-forming diet, and feel the difference for yourself. Once you’re in the proper alkaline range, you won’t want to go back. And you’ll be better for it!
Editor’s note: HPDI’s sponsored pro cyclist Irena Ossola is a frequent contributor to our blog. Today she writes about her experience with adjusting and monitoring her pH levels using pH Adjust and pH test strips. ~
I have used HPDI’s pH Adjust alkalinizing formula for about two months, and my experience has been quite interesting. I can see how my body reacts on a chemical level to different stresses—such as racing, travel, training, rest, and different foods I eat. I consistently use pH paper to test my pH first thing when I wake up in order to have a more controlled test.
My primary finding is that after a race my body is quite acidic (pH of 6.3). While in contrast after a day of rest and/or dinner consisting of lots of vegetables and spinach my body is quite alkaline (pH of 7.5 to 8).
TESTING MY pH LEVELS FOR ALKALINITY
While in France and racing very hard, I noticed that taking pH Adjust every morning helped my body feel more balanced and avoid spikes of energy or tiredness. I could rest and sleep more deeply, and train with both greater quality and frequency.
Wearing my HPDI gear. Products like pH Adjust and Rejuvenate! superfoods keep in me in top condition.
After a month in France of hard racing and training, I began experiencing leg cramping due to the fatigue and travel. I remained consistent in my testing and taking pH Adjust through this difficult period. Initially, my tests were very acidic when the cramps began. Then as my diet consisted of just soup and salad (to hydrate and ease the burden on my digestion/kidneys) the pH test strips showed my pH to be more alkaline.
Also, I read that bicarbonate could help with cramping as it acts as a buffer in the body. So I continued to take the pH Adjust consistently and even increased my doses by adding an evening dose as well, if my afternoon/evening pH test showed my body was acidic (below pH 7).
DIET AND pH ADJUST KEEP ME ALKALINE
During the period of cramping I know pH Adjust helped to reestablish an alkaline environment in my body. This is important in order to heal from the cramping which creates a lot of lactic acid and fatigue in my muscles. I noticed the symptoms were reduced. During the cramping stage, I usually have cramping even when walking, but this time it was limited primarily to the bike. I recovered faster and felt better sooner, which I think is a result of the pH Adjust and the correct diet.
Testing pH levels with litmus paper guides my diet and use of pH Adjust.
Even after travel and during my return to harder training I will continue to take pH Adjust as part of my normal routine. There is nothing else available or on the market that acts so specifically to balance the pH within the body. This is so important as we introduce and put many stresses on our body that take it out of balance. Whether it is environmental or nutritional, these stresses can lead to further problems. So simply taking pH Adjust every morning can help protect against these variables. I feel the difference when I am consistent in taking it, and my body is under constant stresses due to my work as a professional cyclist.
pH Adjust helps me maintain optimal pH levels—there’s nothing else like it.
JUICE CLEANSE AND RECOVERY
Last month I returned from Europe where I was suffering from some leg cramping, so I decided to do a body cleanup. I was still taking pH Adjust in the morning and my normal supplements, but I also wanted to do a 3–5 day juice cleanse. This helped the recovery as it cleans out my kidneys and gives my digestion a rest. Whenever I return from travel or racing I try to do a juice cleanse to reboot my system.
Me and my bike!
The three day juice cleanse ended up being a great flush, and my legs were recovering very well after all the travel, racing, cramping, and stress.
I did notice some feelings of fogginess in my head during the cleanse. But I was told that this is not uncommon to feel as it could be either from the reduced amount of protein entering the body, or because the toxins are being cleaned out of the system, so the mind is also readjusting to this as well.
I have noticed that the more juice cleanses I do, the faster and easier my body adjusts to the fluid diet. I don’t feel hunger, but just craving for the juice and energy. As long as I have enough juice made and on hand, I don’t feel worried about my ability to nourish my body. Without intense training I really enjoy the cleanse and don’t feel the need or cravings for sugar or certain foods. It simplifies life, and allows me to focus on important things like training and my work as a pro cyclist.
Pro Tip: When going through lots of stress on the body like exercise, illness, surgery, polluted environments, etc., increase the amount of Rejuvenate! superfoods in your diet and eat sardines. Both of these nutritional components will help speed up recovery time, and battle any incoming hazards and risk factors to your body.
Pro Tip: Rejuvenate! superfoods support recovery after training and racing.
Looking for a high-quality, natural KIDS MULTIVITAMIN? Me, too. Do you look in vitamin stores, natural foods stores, and online marketplaces—in vain? I have.
A couple years ago, HPDI’s formulator, my father Hank Liers, PhD decided to reformulate our already excellent kids multivitamin—the Kids Mighty-Multi!—to make it better. His intentions were good: the world’s best designer of adult multivitamins would improve the best children’s vitamin.
My quandary? While Dr. Hank was busy at work reformulating our kids multi, the existing—and uber-excellent—original Kids Mighty-Multi! went out-of-stock, and never came back. Suddenly, my seven-year-old son’s “go-to” multivitamin was gone…indefinitely!
I took action—kids vitamins became my obsession—because I wanted the best multivitamin for my child. I searched everywhere for high-quality kids vitamins. Leaving no stone unturned, we tried them all—including organic, whole food, gluten-free, vegan-friendly brands with glossy labels. Did we find good ones? Not really.
What DID we find? Well, not much—and a lot. That is, not much in the way of high potency, high-purity, or advanced forms, like coenzyme vitamins. And a lot of false promises and junk ingredients. Like sugar and corn syrup and GMO ingredients—even from “reputable” brands.
Not to mention artificial sweeteners, colorings, flavorings, as well as toxic preservatives and fillers, which are the de facto standard in conventional products. Natural products are better—not always by as much as you’d expect.
Looking for a good children’s multivitamin? Look no further than chewable Kids Mighty-Multi!
MY MULTIVITAMIN WISHLIST
Now in label-induced miasmic SHOCK…I proposed a reversal of terms. I simply wanted a lot of good things—like complete, balanced nutrients—and not much in the way of toxic additives.
Reeling, I scrawled a brief manifesto or “wishlist” for my ideal kids multivitamin:
“Great taste, high-purity, balanced nutrients at optimal levels, chewable; sugar free, non-GMO. No artificial ingredients, especially toxic sweeteners like aspartame or sucralose. No harmful additives or preservatives like sodium benzoate, BHT, or propylene glycol (no antifreeze please!); a few good-for-you functional ingredients.”
Was I asking *too* much? No way. Yet, I was giving up on finding a suitable kids multivitamin. My son instead began taking an HPDI adult multivitamin (Multi Two Caps) we scaled to his sixty five-pound weight. The taste wasn’t great—so we opened capsules directly into his juices and smoothies—because he’s not ready to swallow capsules or tablets whole. At best…a partial solution.
KIDS MIGHTY-MULTI! BACK — BETTER THAN EVER!
Then. It. Happened. Lighting struck—HPDI’s Kids Mighty-Multi! is BACK! Turns out my dad finished reformulating the world’s best kids multivitamin. He broke the news with a smile. Stunned and unbelieving…I took a breath. My heart skipped a beat. Then I grabbed a bottle!
Who knew it would take two years?—and now, who cares!? This month, HPDI proudly introduces a *new* Kids Mighty Multi!. Worth the wait? Yes. Because the new version is better than ever.
I’ve thrown away my wishlist. My search is over. Yours may be, too. Because no kids multivitamin comes *close* to Kids Mighty-Multi!. See the comparison chart and nutrient table (below).

TASTE-ENHANCING COMPLEX: FUNCTIONAL INGREDIENTS
Kids Mighty-Multi! tastes GREAT! Kids and adults LOVE the taste. From the perspective of your child’s taste buds, that’s *all* that matters.
But I want to talk a bit about the importance of healthy sweeteners…and how the best sweeteners perform double duty as health promoters.
WHY does Kids Mighty-Multi! taste so good? (Did I mention it contains NO refined sugars—or any artificial sweeteners or flavorings?)
Because Dr. Liers created a natural taste-enhancing complex. This taste-enhancing package includes xylitol, mannitol, FOS (fructooligosaccharides), beet root juice powder, natural fruit flavors, and stevia leaf extract.
Dr. Hank selected healthy, functional ingredients—as much as possible—in order to enhance the taste. That means these taste enhancers are not only NOT unhealthy like the refined sugars, corn syrups, and artificial sweeteners I found in so many other kids vitamins. But they are GOOD for you!
• Mannitol – Natural polyol sweetener with added benefits as an antioxidant. Mannitol surprisingly has a very powerful effect on the hydroxyl free-radical. (see: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9090754). Mannitol serves double duty as a healthy sweetener and important hydroxyl radical free-radical trapper.
• Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) (from chicory root) – Naturally sweet with no or low glycemic index. It is also a prebiotic that supports the growth of beneficial bacteria.
• Beet Root Powder (organic) – Naturally sweetens and colors Kids Mighty-Multi!. Beet is a functional ingredient providing methyl donors and easily assimilable iron. Moreover, Dr. Benjamin S. Frank found beets contain an amino acid the body uses to create its own dietary nucleic acids and a nutrient important to brain function (No-Aging Diet, 81).
• Berry & Fruit Extracts / Flavors – Mixed berry, strawberry, raspberry, and pomegranate. These berry extracts provide extremely good, fruity taste—bursting with berry flavors!
• Stevia Extract – Natural sweetens with little or no glycemic value. Kids Mighty-Multi! contains a newer, improved stevia extract which is de-bittered
• Malic Acid – Provides a naturally tart taste, supports the utilization of magnesium, and feeds into the Krebs’ cycle that makes cellular energy (ATP)
Why is choosing “good-for-you” functional sweeteners and taste enhancers important?
Because despite what adults might wish, sweeteners still comprise the largest percentage of kids multivitamins by weight. That means your child will be ingesting significant amounts (of whatever these sweeteners are) relative to the size of their multivitamin.
Who wants the bulk of their child’s multivitamin intake comprised of sugars, corn syrup, sucralose, or worse (think aspartame)? This is the reason natural sweeteners providing functional benefits make all the difference for health.
COMPLETENESS MATTERS – A LOT!
Kids Mighty-Multi! is nothing if not complete. As formulated by Dr. Hank Liers, it provides therapeutic levels of all essential vitamins, minerals, cofactors, and much more.
If you read labels (like I do), you’ll see most kids vitamins are “hit-or-miss.” They provide certain nutrients, but often completely miss others—usually with no rhyme or reason. (What was its formulator thinking?)
Missing important nutrients is bad for consumers—like you and your child—because all nutrients require other nutrients to “do a body good.” It’s called synergy, and it’s the way our cells are designed to work.
That means if you obtain sufficient amounts of a specific nutrient, but not enough of another, you may be unable to effectively utilize the nutrient you have—because utilization requires the nutrient you *don’t* have. Catch-22, huh? I’ll talk more about this later.
Do your child—and yourself—a favor: choose a complete multivitamin like Kids Mighty-Multi!.
Kids Mighty-Multi! is nothing if not COMPLETE. (Tablets in photo appear larger than actual size.)
ADVANCED FORMS OF NUTRIENTS…LIKE YOU’VE NEVER SEEN
Then, there are advanced forms of nutrients, like coenzyme B vitamins. Most kids vitamins (and adult multivitamins) offer you the B complex vitamins as synthetic forms. How can you tell? Well, coenzyme vitamin B1 in Kids Mighty-Multi! is from Thiamin Diphosphate and is very different from synthetic “thiamine HCl.” Vitamin B2 is from Riboflavin-5′-Phosphate is not synthetic “riboflavin.” The vitamin B6 is from Pyridoxal-5′-Phosphate is not “pyridoxine HCl.” And so on.
What about vitamin B12 as toxic “cyanocobalamin”? Never. Kids Mighty-Multi! provides coenzyme B12 as methylcobalamin. Other brands sometimes use this form, but then provide synthetic forms for other B vitamins. That makes sense—NOT.
Sure, coenzyme B vitamins cost more to source. But the truth is, your body requires far less coenzyme form vitamins because they are the natural forms found in foods—you easily assimilate and utilize them. Kids Mighty-Multi! doesn’t need large amounts of coenzyme vitamins to give you big benefits.
Meanwhile, synthetic forms are not as easily assimilated—most go through a complex enzymatic breakdown before the body can use them. In some cases (for example if your child lacks certain enzymes due to genetics), syntethic forms cannot be broken down—or used—at all!
Case in point: Folate. Most kids vitamins give you “folic acid,” which is synthetic vitamin B1. A large percentage of the population (including me) lacks the gene providing the enzyme required to process folic acid. If folic acid builds up in cells (because it can’t be broken down), then it can be toxic. Solution: we use coenzyme folate—or 5-MTHF (5-methyl tetrahydrofolate) in Kids Mighty-Multi!. Problem solved.
Recall I said Kids Mighty-Multi! is complete?—and the importance of completeness in a multivitamin? Well, for example, if your kids’ multivitamin only provides synthetic vitamin B6 (as Pyridoxine HCl), it won’t be convertable into its biologically active (coenzyme) form without coenzyme vitamin B1 (Riboflavin-5′-Phosphate).
Did you catch that? To convert Pyridoxine HCl (synthetic vitamin B6) to its usable coenzyme form Pyridoxal-5′-Phosphate, you need coenzyme Riboflavin (Riboflavin-5′-Phosphate). You need a coenzyme form of one B vitamin in order to convert another B vitamin to its coenzyme form!
If you have only synthetic forms of these B vitamins, your body must go through multiple conversion processes in order to first convert synthetic Riboflavin into coenzyme Riboflavin so that you can convert synthetic vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine HCl) into its coenzyme B6 form (Pyridoxal-5′-Phosphate).
Yes, you can *survive* on synthetic forms of B vitamins. But why make your body work so hard? Why survive when you can *thrive* (with coenzyme vitamins)?
Why other kids vitamins don’t include coenzyme forms is BEYOND ME. If other brands go with conventional (and sometimes toxic) synthetic forms, so be it. Run, and go with Kids Mighty-Multi!.
Other advanced forms include vitamin D as D3 (cholecalciferol), vitamin K as K1 and K2 (Menaquinone-7), and minerals using Krebs’ cycle carriers (like citrates, malates, fumarates, succinates, and aspartates) that are best recognized and utilized in the body because they plug into the body’s energy (ATP) production system.

Maybe the best feature of Kids Mighty-Multi! is scalable dosing. Scalability makes it suitable for children and youth of all sizes—and adults, too!
Glancing at Kids Mighty-Multi!‘s label, you might assume it’s as low potency as the most kids’ vitamins available in stores. Not so fast.
Because Dr. Hank designed this multivitamin for everyone, including adults. How do I know? Because he told me: he takes these chewables himself!
How does it work? You simply take two (2) tablets per 20 pounds of body weight—up to six tablets—for kids. But since most older kids and adults weigh more than 60 pounds, you can take 8–10+ tablets and approximate the nutrition you would get from your regular adult vitamin. How cool is that!
Scalable dosing works well for people who don’t like swallowing capsules or tablets, or who prefer a good-tasting chewable. And who doesn’t, sometimes? It is especially useful for traveling because the entire family can use it.
In my case, I usually take four capsules per day of Hank & Brian’s Mighty Multi-Vite! , which my favorite adult multivitamin, and the inspiration for creating the Kids Mighty-Multi!. Yet, there are many days when I thrill to the taste of the new chewable kids multivitamin—knowing I get a significant amount of nutritional value. That means a lot. A lot of goodness. And not much to worry about.
Dr. Hank Liers pulled out the stops in formulating Kids Mighty-Multi!
CHOOSE KIDS MIGHTY-MULTI!

Of course, you’ve got a brain. But this choice is a “no-brainer.” Go for Kids Mighty Multi!. Your kids will never go back to their old multivitamin. And they’ll be healthier for it.
You’ve heard it before. Eat more fruits and vegetables to be alkaline. Consume more alkaline-forming foods. Eat fewer acid-forming foods to avoid acidosis. Balance your pH levels.
Maybe you’ve even studied lists or charts of acid- and alkaline-forming foods to encourage dietary choices for creating proper acid-alkaline balance.
It’s no secret that acid-alkaline balance is important for health. In fact, it is well established that pH levels in the range of 7.35–7.45 provide many benefits. The facts are the facts, and the science is sound.
Consuming more alkaline-forming fruits and vegetables can help maintain proper pH in the body.
Yet, if creating alkalinity were that simple, then why are most individual’s pH levels acidic instead of alkaline? What can be done to remedy the endemic (and epidemic!) levels of acidosis we see today?
Consuming potassium-rich fruits and vegetables remains the most important means for maintaining alkaline conditions in the body. However, taking pH Adjust powder supplement is an effective adjunct not only for helping balance pH levels, but rapidly producing an alkaline state conducive to optimal health.
pH BALANCE BASICS
A pH of 7 is considered neutral. A slightly alkaline pH level – like 7.4 – is best for health, of course.
Known benefits of ideal pH levels (slightly alkaline) include:
• Optimal function of enzymes
• Proper mineral retention, including electrolyte reserves
• Better tissue oxygenation
• Beneficial effects on microbiome
Dietary intake of alkaline-forming foods is the most obvious way of supporting proper pH. Consuming a diet rich in alkaline forming foods, such as fruits and vegetables (particularly leafy green vegetables) and vegetable juices are proven means for successfully balancing the effects of acid-forming foods like meats, and most grains and starches (simple carbohydrates).
Vegetables and fruits contain potassium. Evidence shows that potassium is critical for producing alkaline conditions in the body.
Known factors producing overly acidic conditions in the body include consuming meats, sugar, processed foods, and simple carbohydrates like wheat, corn, rice, and most pastas and breads.
pH BALANCE ESSENTIAL FOR HEALTH
Despite the certain knowledge that consuming vegetables, vegetable juices, and certain fruits helps balance pH, most people’s pH levels are overly acidic. I personally know many people, often vegetarians, whose pH levels are perfectly within the range suggested for optimal health.
Yet, I also see that most people do not consume sufficient alkaline-forming foods (specifically vegetables and vegetable juices), and therefore I am not surprised that the pH levels of most people are overly acidic.
What people in the thick of life may not realize is the degree to which acidosis—chronic or otherwise—is taking a toll of their health. And how maintaining alkalinity can improve health, longevity and quality of life. Or how easy it can be to create and sustain alkaline conditions using diet and dietary supplements.
MODERN TIMES: CHRONIC ACIDOSIS FOR MOST
Government statistics show that individuals by far do not consume recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables. It makes me wonder what foods the average individual or family consumes daily. Fast foods, fried foods, GMO foods, sugar-laden foods, and processed foods, as well as artificial additives, pesticides and agricultural chemicals are not conducive to alkaline conditions.
Neither are high-nitrogen foods, like red meats and most high-protein animal foods, especially when over-consumed—and not balanced by potassium-rich plant foods.
It seems the diet and lifestyle of most people are such that they are overly acidic. This may be considered a symptom of “modern” life. Yet, while the acid-alkaline balance of ancient diets—and even the diets of Westerners into the 20th century may have been fundamentally better (i.e., more alkaline-forming), the principles of pH balance remain the same. The pH levels of individuals subsisting on grains in any historical period would be relatively acidic.
Beyond low potassium intake from vegetables and fruits, other factors associated with over acidity include alcohol and most pharmaceuticals, antibiotics, artificial sweeteners, preservatives and artificial colorings, low nutrient intake, chemical exposure, pollution, lack of exercise, shallow breathing, and chronic stress.
Given the prevalence of these factors, is it any wonder that maintaining alkaline conditions in the body has become difficult for the average person?
Some effects of acidosis:
• Being “out of breath” easily and asthmatic symptoms
• Muscle cramping or pain—even with little exertion
• Feeling like can’t get sufficient air (low tissue oxygenation)
• Skin problems
• Weight gain
Importantly, studies indicate that long-term acidosis is linked to certain health conditions, including arthritis, diabetes, fibromyalgia, heart disease, osteoporosis, stroke, and other adverse conditions.
HOW TO BE ALKALINE: DIET AND pH ADJUST
The answer for maintaining alkalinity is to consume plenty of potassium-rich fruits and vegetables. Most people know that it is important to eat 4–6 servings of vegetables daily. Yet, how many actually do? And why is that?
Not unlike taking daily multivitamins and sufficient quantities of basic dietary supplements, maintaining proper pH levels is easier said than done for most people. It just is.
For example, what if you normally consume sufficient amounts of fruits and vegetables, but you are traveling? Or find yourself on a given day not maintaining sufficient intake to maintain optimal pH balance? Or inadvertently become exposed to “factors” that create acidosis?
If you regularly consume sufficient levels of vegetables, vegetable juices, and certain fruits, you will most likely be slightly alkaline most of the time. If you do not, then you will either need to increase your intake of these potassium-rich foods, or try something else, or both.
How do I know this? Because despite my rather large intake of vegetables, vegetable juices, and fruits, I discovered that I am myself not always sufficiently alkaline. When I recently used litmus paper to test my pH levels, I found to my surprise that I am not *always* as alkaline as I should be.
Fortunately, my father Hank Liers, who is our company’s formulator and founder, had something brewing in his mind the last few years.
Just as I was deeply wondering how to squeeze more vegetable juices into my busy schedule…he develops a formula that forever changes my perspective on acid-alkaline balance, not to mention keeping me alkaline — like all the time.
It is amazing and it is “something else.” He calls it pH Adjust. And that is what it does—adjust your pH—and fast!
pH ADJUST can safely and effective alkalinize the body.
WHAT TO EXPECT: pH ADJUST BENEFITS
After taking a single dose of pH Adjust, my pH “litmus” paper turned from light-ish green to deep purple.
After taking a dose every day for 10 days, my litmus test paper is dark blue to purple nearly all the time.
In addition, my father, Dr. Hank, has noticed that by taking a single large dose (a rounded teaspoon) every morning upon arising and measuring his urinary pH levels shortly before taking the dose, his morning pH levels are consistently in the 6.8 to 8.0 range. Before initiating this practice his morning urinary pH range was 6.2 to 6.6. Using this same protocol, my mother has experienced the same pattern of morning urinary pH values.
Of course, urinary (and salivary) pH measurements over the day will show significant variations depending upon your dietary habits. However, it was noticed that the trend was to have the pH increase over time as the protocol was rigorously followed.
What changed? Well, our pH levels have changed—toward alkalinity—for one thing. For another thing, I notice I have greater stamina, breathe easier, and just “feel” better.
Another unexpected benefit: my teeth feel stronger. Go figure! I thought about it and I see that my body must be retaining minerals better.
When the body is acidic, minerals are required to “buffer” the acidity. The body will even pull minerals from bones or teeth to buffer acidity because it tries to balance acidity any way it can.
Does this mean you can stop eating vegetables—and just take pH Adjust? Absolutely “no” because your diet remains the single most important factor in keeping your body slightly alkaline. If anything, your intake of potassium-rich fruits and vegetables (like kale and other leafy greens) should increase or at least be maintained, if it is already sufficiently abundant in these foods.
The arrival of pH Adjust just means there is a highly effective tool (supplement) to help maintain proper acid-alkaline balance beyond your diet alone. It means that whenever your pH levels dip into an acidic zone, you can rapidly and effectively return yourself to an alkaline state independently of your immediate dietary circumstances. From this perspective, pH Adjust is like an insurance policy: a useful means to attain alkalinity if and when diet alone is not enough. That’s why pH Adjust is a dietary “supplement.”
I cannot guarantee you will get the exact results I obtained. Your results will depend on your diet, level of acidity, and exposure to other factors known to determine pH levels. Nevertheless, the science behind the development of pH Adjust is based on the fact that certain key forms of minerals like potassium and sodium bicarbonate and magnesium carbonate create alkaline conditions in the body.
TELL ME MORE ABOUT pH ADJUST
pH Adjust is a fluffy, mild-tasting power formula you add to water, juice, or other liquid drinks in small amounts (about 1/4 teaspoon) that rapidly “adjusts” your pH levels toward alkaline.
pH Adjust contains potassium bicarbonate, magnesium carbonate, potassium glycinate, and sodium bicarbonate. A one gram serving (about a rounded ¼ tsp) contains about 300 mg of bicarbonate, 260 mg of carbonate, 142 mg of potassium, 105 mg of magnesium, 48 mg of sodium, and 100 mg of glycine.
Potassium, sodium, and magnesium are key minerals involved in many important functions in the body. When combined in bicarbonates (potassium & sodium), carbonates (magnesium), and glycinate (potassium) they help to adjust and balance pH levels essential to optimal body function.
You can read more in depth about pH Adjust on our product page.
pH ADJUST VERSUS SODIUM BICARBONATE (BAKING SODA)
For years, health professionals have advocated the use of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) for its alkalinizing effects and the benefits associated with balanced pH levels.
Baking soda is cheap and effective, but consuming it has drawbacks. Its key flaw is sodium. Sodium bicarbonate provides relatively too much sodium (salt), and as such, its consumption must be monitored so as to avoid elevated sodium levels. Too high sodium levels create known risks for high blood pressure (hypertension) and cardiovascular health.
pH Adjust is formulated to avoid high sodium levels. One key to the formula is its 3:1 ratio of potassium to sodium. These are balanced amounts, as well as levels the body itself favors in terms of absorption and retention. Moreover, these levels maintain a balance known to be heart-healthy and that keep the formula low in sodium, when used as directed.
Most individuals already consume sufficient (or more than sufficient) sodium, and therefore require other minerals to balance that intake. pH Adjust not only contains low levels of sodium, but also provides minerals (potassium, magnesium) needed to balance sodium levels in the body.
A refreshing glass of water with pH Adjust. Can alkalinizing get any simpler?
Taste is another advantage of pH Adjust. Baking soda literally tastes “salty” because it is full of sodium. For a long while, I used baking soda to balance my pH levels toward greater alkalinity.
I stopped taking baking soda not only because my dietary intake of alkaline-forming foods is usually sufficient (relative to the average person), but also because I no longer could stomach the salty taste. I continue to “slug” down baking soda every now and then, but I have to suppress my overriding desire to spit it out—it’s simply too salty!
Imagine me now: happily drinking my pH Adjust in water every morning (and sometimes afternoon) which tastes good! I cannot actually say it tastes like a dessert because it is more like neutral to slightly sweet in taste (partly due to its glycine content). It goes down smoothly with no detectable “salty” taste.
EVERYTHING TO LOVE IN AN ALKALINIZING FORMULA
I would say pH Adjust has everything I would ask for in an alkalinizing, pH balancing formula. It alkalinizes me–FAST! It provides critical minerals required for health in balanced amounts, including potassium and magnesium in easily assimilated forms. It is low in sodium. It tastes good. What more can you ask for?
pH Adjust probably is the most sophisticated alkalinizing formula available. Certainly it is better than calcium- and chemical-laden antacids, which I would never take anyway. pH Adjust’s elegant design makes baking soda seem plain and salty by comparison not to mention highly imbalanced in terms of its mineral content.
TRY pH ADJUST AND MEASURE YOUR pH
No one can really know the effects of such an excellent pH balancing formula as pH Adjust without accurately measuring their pH levels. That is the reason HPDI offers Hydrion litmus paper, which is simply a litmus paper for measuring pH.
Whether you use Hydrion brand papers won’t make a difference. Any good-quality litmus paper should work just fine. Use a small, one- or two-inch strip of pH paper to quickly dip into a saliva or urine sample (i.e., to test salivary or urinary pH). Hint: urinary pH tends to be more accurate because saliva tends to be affected by foods. Test salivary pH well away from meals.
Order a container or two of pH Adjust, which we’ve purposefully kept low cost so both health professionals and individuals can make it a regular part of their pH balancing regimes. At $19.95 for retail customers (and less for HPDI resellers/wholesale customers), you will see that there is significant value for the price of pH Adjust.
As for serving size, one container provides 250 one-gram servings (about a rounded 1/4 teaspoon). Even if you were to take larger amounts (like I do), say up to one teaspoon daily, there would be nearly 63 servings per container. That’s enough for two full months of servings assuming daily usage.
NOTHING TO LOSE, JUST pH BALANCE TO GAIN
For every person I know whose pH levels lean toward acidic end of the spectrum, there is a container of pH Adjust waiting to be opened. Seriously though, if you’re not getting quite enough potassium-rich vegetables in your diet (or think you are but actually are not), then please consider pH Adjust your supplemental “friend-in-need.”
And if you (or your clients) suffer from long-term, chronic acidosis due to a potential variety of causes, then you have much more to gain. Stop the spiral of acidity from keeping you from attaining much better balanced pH levels—and thereby improved health—by trying our simple blend of minerals in bicarbonate, carbonate, and glycinate forms, called pH Adjust.
Then measure your pH using litmus paper—and see the difference for yourself. Litmus paper doesn’t lie, and it gives you a reliable indicator of the progress you’re making and your current pH status in real time.
After using pH Adjust and measuring your results with litmus paper, then decide for yourself. Is pH Adjust worth its name? Does it effectively help you balance your pH? We think your answer will be “yes.” We believe you will love pH Adjust as much as we love it.
