Fred Liers PhD Hepa Plus liver support detoxification for everyoneToday I discuss HEPA PLUS, which is a synergistic, encapsulated liver protection formula. HEPA PLUS offers effective nutritional support for liver function and detoxification. Many people benefit from liver support due to exposure to environmental toxins. But HEPA PLUS is ideal for anyone who who needs enhanced liver protection and support. That is almost everyone today given how modern diets, lifestyles, and chemical exposures overburden the liver.

IMPORTANCE OF THE LIVER FOR DETOXIFICATION

One of the main ways the body rids itself of toxins is via the liver. In fact, the liver is among the hardest working organs. It tirelessly detoxifies blood, produces bile needed to digest fats, breaks down hormones, and stores essential vitamins, minerals, and iron.

HEPA PLUS provides major support for liver function. Four veggie capsules of HEPA PLUS include:

1. Vitamin B1 (20 mg) (thiamine as HCl)
2. Selenium (100 mcg) (l-selenomethionine)
3-Molybdenum (100 mcg) (Mo glycinate chelate)
4. L-Cysteine HCl (400 mg)
5. Standardized Milk Thistle seed extract (360 mg) (standardized to 80% Silymarin)
6. Dandelion Root extract 4:1 (300 mg)
7. Glycine (200 mg)
8. Taurine (200 mg)
9. L-Ornithine HCl (160 mg)
10. Alpha-Lipoic Acid (100 mg)

GLUTATHIONE SUPPORT

Glutathione levels in the liver are responsible for about 60% of liver detoxification. HEPA PLUS is formulated to build and protect glutathione levels in the liver.

Glutathione is a tripeptide consisting of l-cysteine, glycine, and glutamic acid. The body maintains high levels of glutamic acid while the rate limiting amino acid for glutathione production is l-cysteine and to a lesser extent glycine. Taurine, like l-cysteine, is a sulfur containing amino acid and can contribute to glutathione production.

Alpha-Lipoic acid is known to increase glutathione production in the body up to 30%. Alpha lipoic acid is an important nutrient enhancing metabolism, and acting as both a water- and fat-soluble antioxidant.

Silymarin from Milk Thistle extract not only helps prevent depletion of glutathione induced by alcohol and other toxic chemicals, but also increases glutathione levels in the liver up to 35%.

HERBAL SUPPORT – MILK THISTLE AND DANDELION

MILK THISTLE SEED EXTRACT

Milk Thistle seed extract is an herbal remedy from the plant known as Silybum marianum. The active ingredients are a group of plant compounds known as silymarin. The extract in HEPA PLUS has 80% silymarin. Silymarin has antioxidant, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Extensive research shows silymarin exerts a protective and a restorative effect on the liver, and can stimulate the growth of new liver cells. Silymarin can increase bile flow, which in turn improves absorption of fat soluble nutrients like vitamins A, D, and E.

Milk Thistle extract has traditionally been used to treat liver and gallbladder issues, promote breast milk production, and even protect the liver from snakebite poison, as well as alcohol and environmental poisons.

DANDELION ROOT EXTRACT 4:1

Studies show dandelion root enhances the flow of bile, improving such conditions as liver congestion, bile duct inflammation, hepatitis, gallstones, and jaundice.

BENEFITS OF DANDELION
1. One of the most effective toxin removers (blood, lymph, and liver cleanser)
2. A source of fiber and vitamins A, C, K, E, folate and small amounts of other B vitamins; and minerals like iron, calcium, magnesium, and potassium.
3. Contains many antioxidants
4. Boosts immunity – studies show dandelion extract has antiviral and antimicrobial effects
5. Promotes liver function
6. Supports treatment of chronic ulcers and joint stiffness
7. A diuretic; used for increasing urine production

L-ORNITHINE (amino acid)

Ornithine plays a key role in the urea cycle and allows the liver to eliminate buildup of toxic levels of ammonia. The urea cycle is one of the body’s waste management systems. Ornithine takes ammonia, a waste product of amino acid breakdown, and converts it to urea, which the kidneys can then excrete in urine.

SELENIUM (trace mineral; non-metal)

Selenium and Molybdenum are essential minerals in the synthesis of enzymes supporting liver detoxification.

A meta-analysis of patients with liver disorders (hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and liver cancer) showed significantly lower selenium levels than controls. In addition the meta-analysis showed a higher selenium level was significantly associated with a 41% decrease in the incidence of significant advanced chronic liver disorders.

MOLYBDENUM (metal/micronutrient)

Molybdenum can inhibit pulmonary and liver fibrosis. Liver fibrosis is thickening and scarring of tissue.

Molybdenum helps prevent liver damage from acetaminophen and reduces heart damage from doxorubicin, a type of antibiotic.

Molybdenum is a vital part of the process by which the liver breaks down acetaldehyde. Acetaldehyde is a neurotoxin produced by alcohol consumption or intestinal fungal overgrowth.
